What's the most cringy thing you wrote?

I go first. Last night, I finished the chapter for my story Sidelines and posted the episode, thinking that it was awesome. But, my God, my husband read it and told me how I could post that (not in a mean way, though). I thought that making my MC throw up beside his love interest was a really good idea. The problem? I described it way too graphically. My husband pointed out that no one could realistically bounce back from a first impression like that. I edited, and now I feel mortified for my readers.

Some years back I went out of town for a convention, for work. In said convention I met a politician who upon discovering I was a writer, hired me in the spot to write him a political speech. I was given bullet points, a considerable sum of money and I work on it during the night after the convention.

Cringiest fucking shit I've ever written by a landslide.

I reread through my first webcomic. There is definitely things I would have done differently, like not referring to the albino boy as Albino.

But the one line that really made me cringe was.

"Fine, die you bloody WASP."

Part that it mixes UK and US slang. And part that I even chose to use WASP. I guess hoping that the readers didn't know what that meant and just thought I was talking about the bug.

I have a buttload of old "cringe" stories. One in particular will never see the light of the LED screen.
I wrote it when I was 16, which was 16 years ago. Some sci-fi/religion BS about the last man from Earth eventually stumbles upon ancient aliens that tell him he's the 'saviour' to mankind. And there's some evil asshole alien called Kahm(wonder where I stole that from, lol). Man meets human-hybrid, some love triangle, random encounters, stolen material from other sci-fi stuff, yada, yada. Called it Humanity.

If I ever find the courage to look at it again, I'll see if I can post some cringey lines here for y'all's entertainment.

I've written my fair share of cringy things when I was a kid, but that was all part of growth and learning. I won’t count those moments, except for the one time there was a drastic drop in quality. I was 15, half awake, stuck on a plane, dealing with my stupid chronic pain, and decided to write a fanfic (???) of my OWN story (??????).
I can't share the whole thing, because the story it was based off I might write someday, and I don't want any spoilers. But, uh, here's the most iconic (?) line from it:

"I haven't touched you yet,

METAPHORICALLY!"

I'm sorry, I don't know why this made me laugh. I can't imagine being in your position. I think I just melt from the nerves, and considering it was a political thing, I don't really know what to think. That's a really weird experience, I thought politicians had people for that, but even though, I think is worth it, and of course, the money.

Plus the bullet points were extra cringy, the city I was visiting is the biggest summer spot in my country, so the speech mentioned stuff like surfing and other beach-side activities... The politician was running for the equivalent of a city mayor

Look at least is a slang and just one, mine was two paragraphs with dialogue, and I think the slang is not even the slightest cringe. So, you definitely good.

Authors on Amazon make good money with stories like that. Monsters and aliens sell a lot, and people love it. If the alien is a savior, that's a super plus. I think you should revisit the story, change stuff, and definitely publish it.

I wrote a Star Wars fanfic in 1985 about Han Solo and Chewbacca.
I don´t remember what it was about in detail but there was some spoiled,
not likeable kid in the story who was obsessed with Chewbacca.
The kid had Chewbacca kidnapped or something like that. Then
he sang a song about how much he loved Chewbacca
The song even had a melody.
My brother still sings that song to me occassionally to make fun
of me

Other cringy stuff:
I publish erotic stories, they are always cringy in a different way,
but that´s just a general feeling that I have writing in that genre

For me, my cringest stuff is some raps I wrote when I was like 13. 🤣I was just reading them, and they actually do have some good lines, but they're mixed with a lot of reeeeeaaaallly cheesy lines trying too hard to be rhymey-rhymey.

When I was 6 years old I wrote a story called "Pam and Gak" about a girl who lost her cat. The cat's name was Gak. Don't ask me why.

When I was 15 I wrote a stereotypical story of an ordinary high school boy who has a passion for photography. His grandfather gave me a 40 years old camera (that looked like it's a camera from the 1990s even though the story taken place in early 2000s). He later finds out he actually is no longer ordinary because the female lead gave him powers and then the horror element becomes fantasy when the lore of ghosts, spirits and demons arises. While in the mids of info dumps the two main characters are sexually attracted to each other. And then a cat appeared for no reason, I literally do not know why.

I could tell the story was trying too much to be an ecchi, horror, fantasy, harem and high school romcom. It was a chaotic read, literally I will die if I read that story again that's how cringy it is for me.

I cringe the hardest at my own writing when I'm working with genuine emotions/feeling. Something about it feels like I'm exposing myself, which makes me cringe. But then again, I can't always hide behind flashy action scenes

I think the scene that made me cringe the most, is the one where two characters sit down and confess their feelings for eachother

I don't think it's cringy per se, but I always make a strange face when I read back this piece:

With rage and a long desire for revenge giving her strength, she pulled from the ground a heavy piece of metal that had broken out from the architrave and, without hesitation, hit the Runer on his head. Once, twice, and more, and more, and more. The many faces of the Leonty she had met and lost were rolling in her mind, squeezing her heart as strongly as the evil was shaking her physical world. Among the many she saw with the eyes of the mind, Vertatis took the spotlight. Una knew who she was. She could feel the same emotions she had felt since the day she was born. Their bond was made of blood and magic fused together in an unbreakable seal. Why did she leave me behind, to face all this? Why did Mementhya and the others let this happen to me?, She thought. Her mother's choice had spun a sequence of terrible events, turning an innocent, young Leonty into a tormented, abused creature.

OK, since I haven't shown anyone a lot of stuff and tend to (maybe blindly, ironically) mostly see the good parts of what I wrote before, which helps with editing alot actually.. So I probably can't accurately tell you everything that's cringe..
I can skim through what I noticed though:

I wrote a parody/love story that...I saw the good parts and revised it, and will again​ One thing, even before I wrote it, I suspected if anyone read it, they'd hate the MC as she was extremely childish

There's a few stories that went WAY TOO EDGY, and...so...everybody...talked...like...this... Not just the characters who HAD a reason too

The final fantasy Fanfic was, as I based many chapters in games I HAVE NEVER PLAYED

Actually while there isn't a lot, every Fanfic was CRINGE

UBERNATURA had many jokes, in nigh every subject and is a parody and almost at random with the first thing that popped up in my head..so the script was CRINGE when explaining and trying to be jokey. That's one of the reason why the Novel is taking forever​

Um... There was also this thing where I tried doing something with political views and it was... It garbage..cringey garbage...

Last but not least is the reason I started to reply in the first place: I wrote a love story before that was made to be cringe. (I might try to post it here? So I won't go too far) The narration, characters' actions and thoughts were written to make you cringe. You're supposed to root for the protagonists, but also groan when you know what they're thinking​

Anything I wrote before junior year in high school, aside from a Halloween story I wrote in the eighth grade. I've literally wrote a story about a unicorn who makes friends with flowers. And no these flowers don't talk. They are regular flowers. And I wonder why people think I'm weird.
