What's With This Completely Inconsistent View Count?

Just a wierd observation I made on my side project, the total view count is MUCH higher then the episodes show. Is there a reason for this?

I’ve had this happen to me too in the past! I don’t really understand how the numbers add up but it would be nice to know.

your comic has been looked at 323 times. X amount of reads from top to bottom have been read for individual update.

I can click a link you send me that sends me to your table of contents (the list of all your pages/updates), I go to page and that is counted as a view to your comic. Whether I actually click on a page and 'read' it is another story. If I actually read a page from the beginning all the way down to the end where your comments are and the ads then I'm actually viewing your page update.

I think what they mean is:

for the episode view count, the reader has to read the episode from beginning to end in order for it to count
for the total view count, the reader just has to look at your comic, without having to 'finish' looking at it in any sense
