What's your art goal? Do you ever feel like giving up on it?

I'm not feeling any passion for the stuff I used to love, and it s*cks...

I used to wanna be able to paint, and draw realistic humans, mainly myself. Though, they ALWAYS come out horrible in some way or another, and honesty, I've kinda lost interest in it. It's much easier and more fun to stick to my own cartoon style.

I don't bother with realistic art either, lemme draw Garfield, or Sonic in peace, I just need some circles, and ovals, and that's it xD

i honestly don't even know if i have any at this point

setting goals has always felt tough anyways since i want to aim high but also want something within reach so i'm always either biting of more than i can chew and getting burntout or feeling like i havent accomplished much of anything

it may not be the best approach but i think for the most part i've just been goin with the flow. making what use i can out of the energy i have without pushing myself and just focusing on having fun rather than try to hit this mark or that mark. i mean i'll experiment with stuff that maybe catches my interest but i don't think i've really got any set art goals especially in terms of style.

i guess if i really had to think i've wanted to get a better grasp of like background or environments even if they look basic as heck but thats about it and with that it's basically the same of just going with the flow and seeing where things take me in terms of practice or implementation. besides a wise person once said "so long as i'm alive i have infinite chances"

I tend not to set out with specific art goals and instead just try to make sure that there's always forward progress. Even during periods where I'm not drawing a ton (like now, and the last few months) I try to make sure to include some targeted practice towards weak areas when I do find time to draw/doodle. Recently, for example, I've been doodling a lot of hands, feet, shoes, clothes/folds, arms/muscles, and random dynamic poses. These are all mostly just paper towel sketches in ball point pen, but I can already see a lot of the progress I've made in that way.

The most important thing that I try to adhere to is just tackling weak areas head on. Reference lots, draw them lots, and more often than not you see improvement over time~

Yeah, it sucks to not feel passionate about something you used to be very excited about. But it's not the end of the world! I've given up many times before; I have 4 false starts that I abandoned like 5 pages in ... and I don't regret it, because those old ideas have developed and merged into something better, more coherent and with more thematic cohesion. Don't feel like you have to push yourself; just because you give up now doesn't mean you'll never do art again! Your ideas will continue to marinate in your subconscious and when they're ready, your passion will find itself back to you. Sometimes giving up is the key to moving on to something bigger and better.

But to actually answer your question, my current goal is to finish the first arc of my comic. I haven't felt like giving up on it yet, but then again, I've only just started

My art goal is to make my arts look more interesting. It can be achieved by very different methods, like adding more details, adding backgrounds, changing composition, creating interesting scenes in illustrations, incorporating different perspective/angles etc. I try to practise at least one of those when drawing, and I know that this goal is something that will never be exactly reached- I mean, you can ALWAYS get better. But at least when I compore my old arts to my current ones, I see the difference and it makes me happy ( :

I don't have career-related art goals, as I had several side jobs with drawing colouring books, and I found out it's not really for me. I'm happy with having drawing as a hobby. However, if some interesting opportunity is presented in the future, I'll probably give it a try.

So as a teen, I wanted to get into animation. I tried to go to college for it, but sort of left feeling like I didn't really learn what I needed to get into the field. It sort of put me into a bad depressed state and I ended up using my knowledge of computer software to get a job as a video editor. I think back to the "Why?" of it, I think I mostly wanted to do animation because I was told comics would get me nowhere and animation was seen as more serious and professional.

I think now, my focus is to do comics. I have been expanding by making coloring sheets for students. I also want to made a video game and I have been studying Python. I think when it comes to animation, I might dabble in doing small stuff but I am not so worried about getting into the industry as I was before.

I think I've felt this way for a long time, but still, and it may seem trite, I haven't stopped insisting on what I want. But I am aware that I have to have realistic goals, if I do not achieve something specific, I must look for solutions, perhaps redesign my way of drawing.

Well, my comic is keeping me going and since I'm getting subs from here and my friends, I cannot just stop, can I?

I made up my mind since "Lyza's Sandstorm" is going to be a mouthful of a story, I'm gonna keep going until the story is 100% finished the way I want to.

I already have the outline throughout and all I gotta do is, draw it and tell it. The more you work, the more you get better.

Not my case, I lost interest bcuz I became a different person, and the stuff I used to like doesn't interest me anymore, maybe I'll go back to it, maybe I won't, who knows? thanks for your opinion, and here's a tip: you could create multiple paths for the same goal, like you said, changing the way you draw is an alternative path.

My art goal is to A) get back into doing my art...it seems like ever since my aches and pains have worsened last year in 2020 it has been an obstacle to get back to drawing. Some days things dont hurt as much, while other days my joints at my elbows, my upper back near my neck, and my forearms/wrists are achy af.

B) I need to find a way to make producing my art easier or else I'm going to keep ending up with soreness.

My goal is to see how my webcomic grows as well as my art, and animation. Someday to be able to earn money from what I enjoy doing the most creating what I love to share for others to enjoy myself too.
