Happy to see a topic like this on the forum.

I'm brand spanking new to this comic drawing game - and that's probably reflected in my clumsy, ugly style (exhibited below). But I've found it reassuring to see all manner of styles at different aesthetic levels on this site.

Although it's probably true to say that the nicer, cleaner looking stuff will generate more interest, I'd like to hope that there's a place for my crappy doodles here too.

My drawing style is kind of doodly while also with elements of japanese and american illustration. hehe check it out!

So I don't really have a "main" style, I like to play around with several but the one you will see in my current comic is the "Crow Style"

It has very basic lines. The eyes do not have pupils. The mouth is close to the bottom of the face and the fingers are pointed.

The children are short and stumpy with with large round heads.

The children's designs are based off of the characters from Dr. Slump, tho probably a more Americanized version of it.
They all have pointed fingers cus I can't draw hands.

The lines have gaps in them cus it makes the form easier to draw.

Hey all! My name is Derik and I'm new to Tapastic. My webcomic is The Adventures of Toad which you can check out here:https://tapastic.com/series/The-Adventures-of-Toad

My style has changed a lot over the years. I started out trying to do a psuedo realistic comic book thing, but it just didn't suit me. After a long time I ditched that and went with the more cartoony look you see here and in my comics. My two biggest influences are Bruce Timm and Mike Weiringo, and I think that comes through in my work, but I've also tried to push my style in it's own unique direction. What do you guys think?

Hum Let's say that my style is Highly Manga inspirate
for the type of manga Hum it's a Subs realist manga it's reach a lots of heavy details on the face but rest manga
I just tend to be REALLY precise in the details I try to make them the more human possible

it's a light preview but yeah it's really mangahish xD

@AdventuresOfToad I definitely see hints of Timm and Weiringo, but you've got your own thing going on too. Your use of sharp lines and vibrant colors is really distinct. I really dig that about Toad. The filtering that you do gives it a bit of a Saturday Morning Cartoon feel, which is nostalgic in the best possible way for me. And your action sequences and backgrounds hit all of the epic notes in unique ways.

@Nio_Kasgami I'm not usually a big manga guy, but that sample is dark and pretty gorgeous. I do really dig the effect you've created with the character's shadow. Striking.

I usually can draw whatever style I want. I did this today just to do it. I'm a big Venom fan.

Thanks @donathinfrye - I really appreciate the kind words, and I'm glad you like the style. I'm also really glad that the saturday morning cartoon flavor comes through. That's definitely the angle I try to present in my artwork.

@Nio_Kasgami - Thanks very much for the compliment! I don't personally regard my style as manga, but I'm glad to know it has crossover appeal in that direction. Regardless, I'm glad you liked it!

Yeah pretty much the same here, I'm a little more on the manga side but I like to keep a good amount of realism.

Cool thread!
The art for my comic Tonari no Incubus is pretty manga-ish, haha. Though I don't want to worry about making my style more unique or likeable. I just let it change with time smile

Yeah but my sister's style is really different, even though we like the same stuff, lol.
This is from her comic, Red Iris1:

I'm going for traditional Superhero comic art, I actually wanted to be less cartoony than I've turned out to be, but what can you do :/
