What's your favorite cliffhanger in your work?

Hi hi, everyone!

I just recently left off on a cliffhanger, and thought I'd give everyone a chance to share their work and their favorite cliffhanger they've drawn/written so far!

Gabriel rolled his eyes. “Dad thought he saw something in progress, he—”

But August couldn’t hear whatever Gabriel said next. A loud explosion echoed down the street, the bright lick of flames lighting the sky.

August saw his father jerk to his feet, but he threw up his hand, motioning for them to stay put. Him and Gabriel shared a meaningful look.

Gabriel glanced over his shoulder. “Looks like he might’ve been onto something after all.”

Currently, my favorite cliffhanger is the end of chapter 3. And unfortunately, it's the only one I have for now until I start working on chapter 6.^^

Oh I just love cliffhangers maybe even a bit too much. But a favourite one from my own series would be this page, a fight not going so well for my main character:

Or maybe a tie with this one- that one character on the floor, one of the main cast, appears last time in chapter 14, and then we see him again in the second half of chapter 17. In updates time, it's about half a year later he's a fav character of my friend, so with every update I get a 'and when we hear about Karamanczi?' from her

I can't decide my fave, but the most recent chapter's cliffhanger was fun and a last-minute idea that I felt better connected to the upcoming chapter.

The most recent chapter, little Owen has some freaky dreams based on events experienced in earlier episodes. He wakes up in shock and yells in horror as he is forcefully yanked high into the sky. The scene fades out as he watches below.

I dunno if it's my favourite but cause it is basically not far in the story it's safe to post I guess. The others are too huge of spoilers XD I also apologize to all the people that have to endure my cliffhangers in my current chapters XD

Cal froze. He recalled that he heard these words before, a long time ago.

“Hold him down, if he moves it will just get messy,” Lester ordered. He grabbed his arm, while Sam pressed him down by his shoulder.

Tears filled Cal’s eyes; he trembled all over and yet no one came, no one saved him…again. As the needle pierced his skin, he cried out, but only gave rise to muffled noises. He squeezed his eyes shut and tears rolled down his cheeks.

Thank you for the opportunity! Ahh I have too many cliffhangers and too many works to choose from but I'll stick with two series.

He gasped, breathing in a lungful of air. His arms hit the water surface with a splash as he moved erratically.

“Will! What’s wrong?” Elise’s concerned face looked down at him.

Still taking in large breaths, he lunged towards the boat and threw his arms around the edge. Elise removed his mask and cupped his cheeks in her hands. Her voice was firm and calming. “What happened?”

Will’s eyes focused on Elise. He sputtered the ominous words, feeling it take a life of its own.

“T-There’s a-a dead bo-body.”

He tore it off in one pull. Digging his spoon into the perfect surface, he scooped out a big mouthful and closed his lips over the mountainful of ice cream. His eyes squeezed shut. A long moan left his lips. The taste of blueberry sweetness melting on his tongue was the best.

Plunging his spoon again into the tub, he backed away and closed the fridge door. He ate a large bite, the spoon still lodged in his mouth, when he realized a person stood before him. His eyes traveled up the neatly pressed black shirt to a long neck and then, the face of someone he had only seen in the news. Junming’s mouth fell open.

“Oh my-”

Cliffhangers are the best, here's one of mine.

“What have you done!” I yelled as the car doors slammed shut and he started driving away. I couldn’t chase the vehicle now, the place was on fire and I was now struggling to stay awake. “Xiz, follow them! I’ll deal with the flames.”

“Way ahead of you” he replied while zipping after them.

I forced myself to get to the fire hydrant in front of the bar, hitting it so a large torrent of water would come spurting out. The water was flowing upwards so I forced it to go towards the bar with my hands, taking out some of the flames but soon my strength started fading. Finally, I let go, the water blast forcing me to stumble backwards into the street. Everything started to fade as I could no longer force myself to stay awake.

I end most of my chapters with cliffhangers. Here's one of 'em:

Finlay raised his hands. Green smoke slowly formed between his fingers.

Raoul caught his arms and said, "If you do something, I'm going to break your hands."

Luka's blood boiled under his skin. "Leave him alone!"

"Or what?" Raoul squeezed Finlay's hands. The smoke disappeared. "You can't beat me, Spike. Werewolves never do."

Then Raoul felt some kind of sensation around his body. He glared at Finlay who was already as white as a corpse. In a flick, Finlay was flung to the other side of the library.

"Finlay!" Matthew screamed in horror.

Luka grunted. Acceptance. Confidence. Perseverance. Stomach. Spite. Switch.

Raoul stood straight and turned back to Luka. A shadow fell on him and he looked up. A huge white wolf standing on two feet flew toward him, taking Luka's place. His mouth was wide open, ready to swallow his head.

I don't have many cliffhangers, and this is pretty much the only one that isn't spoilers.

Under the cover of the center laser, Roxie and Leon faltered. Both kept bumping into each other, barely parting in time to dodge the next set of pages. It all came to a head when they collided a final time. The center laser brushed against their heads, but if they fled it, they wouldn’t have enough time to make it past the wave of pages. As all was shrouded in darkness, they held a tight grip on each others’ hands.

Their fate had been sealed.

I guess my favourite so far would have to be the end of Chapter IX, which is the first team fight, and it starts with a truly misguided attempt by a character who lost her powers long ago trying to bluff that she still has them to somebody with the powers of a god:

“I warned you,” Stella snarled, holding out her hand and beginning to cast. “Powers of the universe, hear my prayer: grant me access to the laws of nature and all of its powers. Grant me the power of infinite destruction and the death of gods. Place the magic of all creation in my hands and bind it to my will–” The thief’s expression didn’t change, but the spike of masonry pivoted towards her. “–and I don’t think he’s buying it – run!”

She grabbed Adam and pulled him behind their rental car. The spike of masonry crashed through it, ripping open the cab, the tip stopping only an inch away from her nose. Then the car was ripped away from them and tossed aside by an unseen hand. The thief hovered before them, glaring. “That was very impolite,” he said, raising his hand. A massive spike of masonry ripped itself from a wall, the wall collapsing into a heap of rubble, exposing the building interior. It trained itself directly at her.

Stella grabbed Adam’s hand and squeezed. “I’m sorry, my wonderful love,” she said. “I think I just got us killed.”

The spike accelerated towards her. She closed her eyes.

And then her world exploded.

seeing that all my chapters are cliffhangers, and since it's my story and I drew them, They are all my favorites so instead, I am going to choose the cliffhanger that had people the most invested
That would be Chapter 25 Where Cleobelle is finally alone with the Phantom Thief, Xepholen, to start her interrogation. She looks overconfident that she WILL be the one to make him talk and not only that but has something else in mind.
