Man, that's a tough question. When I was younger, it was the Trick or Treating. As I got older... In university, I worked several years in the Theatre departments haunted house, and that was an absolute BLAST! When I moved to Japan, Halloween was a very minor thing (it's grown bigger), and I take pride in the fact that each year, the costumes at my school's Halloween party became better and better, due in some part to my pushing the envelope every year and other people following along. After I moved to the Tokyo area, it became the Kawasaki Halloween parade. Shibuya and Shinjuku are just big drunken costumed crowds, Kawasaki has a much better Halloween party atmosphere. And I still get to hit a couple of smaller parties at restaurant/bars I frequent, one of which has soft banned me from the costume contest because I won 3 years in a row (now I get some free food and am one of the honorary judges). COVID has a bunch of those events cancelled this year.
Now if I could just get the neighborhood kids to trick or treat at my door. I put up decorations, and there are one or two who do come, but it could be so much bigger.
