What's Your Opinion On This Art Style? (Honesty please!)

I've been working with and trying out many different styles as of late. This is the most recent one that I've really taken a liking towards.

Sooo, based on these two drawings of the same character, what would your opinion on the style be? This is just for reference purposes, to see what the general consensus is on the forum.

I love it!
I like it.
It's fine, I guess.
Not my cup of tea.
I hate it (be honest if you do).

I'll be honest, to me it seems that this was some mix of "creepy" style with something else (i'm not expert so i have no idea how to describe it), like this was meant to make you "uncomfortable" , but eyes not being even similar shape bugs me, again i'm in no way expert so if this is what you wanted to portray i apologize

edit: i don't mind "creepy" art

Honestly, it kinda looks like that "Pig Goat Bannana Cricket" show.

Yeah, I'd say that's probably what I'm going for, mostly. I'm trying to strike a balance between slightly cute and weird, but it always either turns out too cute, or (as is the case with these sketches) too weird.

Personally, i like the surreal vibe this style gives. But how fitting it is will depend of your story.

hmm.. if your plot is more on creepy side you could make art on more cute side , since you said that you can't seem to find "perfect" mix

There's something about the craziness of the style in those shows that I just find myself drawn to, even if I'm not a huge fan of them.

Not me! Some people may be surprised by this, but I am NOT a fan of wacky, over the top styles. Unless it's controlled like, VERY well. It's the main reason I can't get into shows like Ren & Stimpy, or the current Spongebob.

Yeah, it's definitely difficult to pull them off right. Too much madness and it'll begin to look off putting; literally cause the show to begin "melting," I guess you could say.

I'm curious, what would you say your biggest influences are?

Structurly speaking, I'd say my art style looks most like a bizzare combination of Family Guy and Simpsons. Along with a little Spongebob mixed in. These are the three styles I was most exposed to growing up.

I feel like it has potential. It sort of reminds me of Joann Sfar's style

As well as Tim Burton's illustrations.

I think if I had some examples of a more mastered version of this style, it'd be a "love it!"

I think it looks great tho, lots of potential, very expressive

Really, all you gotta do is find a background style that'll suit this and you'll be good. it's all about balance.
