Weird theme but bear with me here.

You know JRPGs, right? You get into battles, maybe it's turn based or it's real-time, but either way, when the weapons are drawn, the music ramps up. So, for people with some action, adventure, or even just occasional conflict in their comics or novels, what would start playing when the gloves come off?:shook_01:

I'll start with mine, Splitting Image - I'd use something orchestral but still with a feeling of traveling on the road, like Battle 2 from Octopath Traveler! Wouldn't fit skirmishes against most named characters, of course, but it sure fits the reality of fighting magical beasts very frequently.

How about you guys?

OOOOHH! SNAP! I love combining music with my comic. Mine's an action series with a heavy emphasis on fighting scenes.
Since the current battle in my comic revolves around a Ragnarok of sorts. This one!

I do have a dedicated playlist for Dragon Sparking as well.

I do think about that sometimes, but I usually end up with "the theme depends on the character at the moment"

Oh! Good Question! (also love the music in Octopath Traveller, it's so good)

I look forward to drawing the parts when my characters finally get to fight and use magic more often (just a few more chapters before I can make it go nuts), but the story's set in modern day and they're a bunch of lost High School-age kids so their fight song would be something jazzy and poppy, like this Louis Cole song that also, lyrics wise, embraces their vibe

Also cuz I just want to talk about how brilliant Louis Cole is.

I was waiting for someone to bring up modern genres as something that fit their comic! Honestly I listen to both Octopath Traveler, The World Ends With You, and many others when thinking of a conflict or a character's theme in Splitting Image, but from the outside a modern song wouldn't really fit with medieval themes unless you saw the whole picture at once (like, say, as a videogame). Sometimes you have to pick what'd describe your comic to someone else first, and with yours it really works!

Well there are two key songs that will be a part of my story and these are both metal versions of Video Game songs.

Cleric Beast cover by Richaadeb is the theme for Wrath/Ira, highlighting her demonic, beastly, and somewhat tortured nature.

Battle Against a True Hero, also a cover by Richaadeb, is battle music for Wrath going against her ArchNemesis Seraph. Kinda final battle theme too.

Ooh I like this forum idea! My battle theme for Shackles would definitely be:

We're in a retrofuturist 1940's, so retro tunes are a must.

Battle theme

Nice and Jazzy!

Boss battle theme

My comic take place during prohibition. So there are no "epic battle" but yeah some gunfights or even some knifefights... For the tune, it must be swingy !

This one would be perfect :

And this one is not bad either
