What's your strong point---storytelling or art?😛

Hiya beautiful people! I'm bored, so I need to do something. Entertain me. Tell me, what's your strong point? Telling a story or drawing? As for me, story telling has always been pretty easy for me. Except when I actually pick up a pen... The end result is not what I had in mind. Triangles becomes squares, and squares becomes a trapezoid. How did that happened? 😣Of course, ever since joining Tapastic, I've improve a lot but it is still a long way to go.😢

That's a hard question!
I'd like to think I am good at both but if I had to choose one, It would probably be story telling! I've been telling stories all my life, not always with comics...

There are so many good comics on Tapastic... No time to get bored really!
And I always though creativity comes from boredom in a way...

Depends who you ask!
I've been told I'm better at storytelling or it'll be reverse and get told my art is better.
So really, I just assume it depends whose reading. / shrugs

yeah I guess I have to agree with the point about it depending on who you ask. Although I usually get complimented on my art more than my story, so I'm just gonna assume I'm a little better in that area.

I'd like to think it's both. While my skills in both still need work (I swear, one day I will figure out how to draw hands that don't look like weird, broken spiders, or bundles of sausages!), I would say I have decent skills in both.

I think telling stories is a lot of fun, and I think drawing is a lot of fun - except when I have to draw those panels in which I, for some reason, have decided I really need to draw dozen different rooftops covered in rooftiles >.< - so I've worked hard on improving both.

Don't feel bad. Hands are a social construct and really an illusion. We only THINK they are there. ;] So really you are x643% better at drawing hands everytime you draw them!!

I think I'm better at story-telling than art at this point because I've been at it longer, but I hope one day I'm equally good at both!

also @AnnaLandin yes hands are the worst >.< I've been forcing myself to draw them more often instead of "hiding" them or disguising them, but hands are just weird. What even are hands? The more I draw them, the more baffled I am about how they even came to be. I agree with @Marchen, hands are an illusion.

Yes! Hands! Alien visitors from another planet! D: I use my own hands for reference whenever I have to draw something really complicated - but my problem then becomes the fact that I have abnormably bendy thumbs. If I draw hands to look exactly like my hands, people go "FINGERS DON'T BEND THAT WAY!" and they'd be mostly correct.

No one's gonna talk about how difficult it is to draw feet (and shoes), especially foreshortened ones??

(My answer to this topic:) I have no clue which is my strong point. I always find holes in my plot when it's too late and I still think my art skills need a lot of work.

My strong point is definitely art, I find that some of my stories lack creativity and I find it hard to come up with creative concepts, how to start and end the story have always been one of the hardest things to do for me too.
I also honestly find it much easier to write individual characters than write a story.

Most people compliment my art over story, so I guess it's obvious which is stronger for me >< But my art obviously still needs heaps of work, so I won't say it's top notch either.

I would like to improve my storytelling though. I think the problem is I bite off more than I can chew and in the end it's like, oops how the hell am I suppose to put this together LOL.

I'd like to say both, but I think storytelling is a bit stronger for me. I dunno though, that's something I'd rather get an answer from the readers about because they're the ones that are experiencing the story and watching the art style become a lot more solid and, in my opinion, better lol

I don't think either is any better to be fair. Both need a lot of work, I can see massive flaws in both and improving both have their own challenges. My art I think might be better, primarily because I work within my limitation while trying to push it out without biting off more than I can chew. And people say my story is interesting so I guess that s good but I believe it can be improved on.

To be honest? I'd have to say storytelling. I'm often comic up with interesting stories that really don't make it more than a few chapters before i kinda give up on it, but I never forget them... like, ever.
Or I take all those weird half finished things and mesh them into a concise storyline, which is what i did with [Insert Epic Title Here]* and I have to say it worked really well, I'm really hoping I get a chance to finish it soon

I am pretty good at art though, but its really more of the technical aspect of it.

*I'm changing that name at some point....

I love storytelling more and most of my readers stay for the story (so they tell me, I hope it's true, lol!). Personally I could crank out better art but I find I don't enjoy spending too much time on a single page. I feel I get better at art only with the purpose of serving the story.

I don't know which camp it falls under, but I'm really good at storytelling with art---the way I chose to show things and the flow of the story gets me a lot of compliments. I really need to improve on my art itself though.

Art is probably the side which im the strongest, but that dosent mean im bad at story telling, i carefully choose which words to use on the dialogs, making it simple, understandable is the key for me.
