I think I'm maybe misunderstood. What I'm saying is that there is no difference between the hobbiest artist and the non-hobbiest artist except for perhaps skill level. But even then, some people are insanely good artists and rarely create art, but they can make a living on it. They are by definition professional artists. Some people dedicate every day for years and never reach that level. In the end, if you create art, you are an artist, and it's very dangerous to suggest there's some line between 'hobbiest' artist and otherwise.
It's sort of like the whole "real gamer vs casual gamer" debates out there, all it does is create elitism and strife. It's just not healthy for anyone.
Edit: I'm not trying to come off as argumentative, just perhaps push the notion that asking this sort of question isn't really a good idea, I think. It can lead to those feelings of imposter syndrome, self-doubt and all kinds of unpleasant downward spirals that nobody needs to feel.
