I'm in the US which is doing really, really, really badly. Thankfully, in the state I live in though we are doing relatively okay even as the governor has been disappointed in the number of people still not social distancing enough. But we are a small state and close to NYC and the governor here issued an order saying everyone coming in from another state must self isolate for 2 weeks (unless they have to go to work). Kind of difficult to enforce any of this though.
Even though my state took action early and nursing homes were closed to visitors before the virus even appeared (or right when the first case was confirmed) nursing homes are still getting hit hard here.
They said they're going to do testing to see how much of the population is immune to the virus.
They just started doing testing in which someone can get results in 15 minutes! Which is pretty amazing and they're going to start contact tracing to figure out where the virus is/could be.
But all of these things are just bandaids. The only thing in the end that can actually help us is a vaccine which can take 18 months, even with it being fast tracked and skipping steps like animal testing.
"Peak time" seems to keep moving further and further away. First I heard April 15th, then the 20th, now I'm seeing the 29th or even May. I have heard that the warmer months will help but there could then be a peak again in the fall.
Either way, I have no idea. I hope schools are able to open again in August/September and I can hopefully get my job back.
