I don't necessarily think there's a problem with the actress they chose (although I don't think Jennifer Laurence has much range. At all.) I think the problem was that she was supposed to be from a really poor district where everyone was starving and, well... Jennifer Laurence is kind of curvy and looks perfectly healthy. They could have easily thrown some makeup on her to make her look underfed, but they didn't even do that. She also has a kind of wide, innocent face and doesn't look much like a chick who goes hunting daily. It's like when they randomly cast Emilia Clarke as Sarah Connor in that Terminator Genisys movie. XD She just doesn't have the look of Sarah Connor, and had nothing on Linda Hamilton in general in my opinion, haha.

A New Hunger Games book? Wow, I didn't know that. I'm excited for the fans of the series~!

Yes! Linda Hamilton was amazing in those movies. Especially T2. She's really the ideal heroine if you truly want to write a kick-ass as a female lead and have it not come out as cardboard or unbelievable. Write a Sarah Connor!

Sports and cars. Apparently, it's something that a guy is obligated to be a fan of if he wants to call himself a man, yet even cybersports (especially the cybersports) bore the bejeezus out of me, and the only car I ever cared about is the DeLorean, and even that's only on the aesthetic level of "I really like how it looks".

Exactly! Monty Oum was a god at action fight scenes. I miss him :frowning:

The only person I think came close to replicating Monty's style of animating fight scenes was Kim Newman (i think was her name?) who was promoted in V6, and so a lot of the fight scenes there were better than the ones in V4 and V5, but I hear she was moved to gen:LOCK.

A couple hyped animated shows I never got past the first two episodes on were

Avatar The Last Airbender (I should like it, but the animation just did nothing for me. I gave it two episodes and never went back)

Rick & Morty (I didn't even finish the first episode. Having a mean drunk co-lead character killed it almost instantly)

The third episode of Avatar is where it really starts to get good. The writing in the first two season is better than almost any anime I've seen.

I loved Avatar the Last Airbender, Uncle Iroh still makes me cry, but I hated the Legend of Korra, the first season was alright, and everything after that just didn't make sense and I really disliked it. That said, the art was as good as ever.

There was an older anime I really enjoyed called X/1999 (the manga is still ongoing/on hiatus/abandoned). It was a 26 (I think) episode series and I enjoyed everything single minute of it...

UNTIL THE LAST 10 MINUTES OF THE LAST DAMN EPISODE.

The ending left such a sour and gross taste in my mouth that the entire show turned into complete TRASH for me. I hate that show SOOO much because the ending sucked.

Not really fandom related, but when I tell people I draw, they expect me to be into or understand the stereotypical weird modern art with super complex and deep meanings when I'm really indifferent to it.
Same thing with rap and hip hop. Don't like it or hate it. I just say I do so people don't think I'm crazy.

FLCL is a show that many people around have praised for being such a short and concise show about puberty, I guess? But it's explained as if it's a masterpiece by Studio Gainax.

Episode 1 was so overwhelming and incoherent for me, I couldn't understand how anybody could even watch it, let alone praise it. The wild nature of the show is supposed to be a positive, but I'll tell you what, it positively turned me off to watching the rest of it. I wanna give it a fairer shot in the future but damn, what nasty first impression it left on me.

I'm right there with you. I don't like Star Wars. D:

I actually grew up on the series (born into a nerd family) and I could probably still quote a significant amount of the older films. I didn't see the movies for a few years while I was transitioning into teenage/young adult life, and when I finally sat down and tried watching any of them again... I was so bored by them. I think Star Wars parody is excellent and hilarious, but the movies themselves, I just can't do it.

That said, I'm going to give "The Mandalorian" a try. Bounty hunters are the best.

Well, it just goes to show that you have the ability to be critical and discern what you actually like and don't, which is something that marketing teams across the world have been working hard to remove from society.

With Stranger Things It became so apparent so fast that they have like...the same plot line and can’t write romance for shit. I LOVE monstrous cosmic horror stuff so much but I watch it and I’m just sitting there through the third season feeling so uncomfortable (and not in a good scared way but like a “oh no” way) with some of that stuff going on like woof

Pretty much the only reason I liked the third season more than the others were the Terminator references and more action scenes. Oh. And glowy FX I love those.

Yeah. I feel the same. I didn’t find the first season to be like AMAZING but I still enjoyed it a lot. The later seasons though have felt like the same story beats on repeat and have had some kind of annoying and even problematic character choices. Like i’ll Probably still keep watching but it definitely probably should have been the one season.

I suppose I can also throw something in that aligns with my Heavy Metal music love.

Sabaton. I should love this band, warrior based lyrics, anthemic style, strong vocals. But I don't. I just cannot for the life of me, get into them. Thousands of people love them but...I just can't do it. Even though I like similar bands, like Iron Savior.

Van Halen I should love this group, both for their contributions to early metal, and of course Van Halen's guitar antics are insane, but the lyrics kill it for me.

Motley Crüe they just suck and I can't stand them. Nuff said. (Harsh? Yes. Do I care? No.) This also applies to most Glam Metal\Rock

Meshuggah the pioneers of Djent. I like maybe two songs, other than that...I just can't.

Devin Townsend any of his projects. Just no. I can't. I've tried.

Periphery huge fan base, great musicians. I just again...don't click for some reason.

To sum up, anyone who's been in my What Are You Listening To Right Now thread will see my metal tastes go far and wide. These are just a handful that I cannot get into, but by all logic, should enjoy them.

The walking dead.....

It became really popular, but i didn`t see what was special....
there were already many zombie stories and stories about survival, so the premise
didnt seem fresh to me and the first chapter didnt hook me up, so i passed.

This is risky, especially on a site with comic forums, but... marvel movies.
I was never huge on the movies from the start, but when I heard so much about The Avengers I expected to be mind-blown.
But I felt absolutely nothing as I watch it.
Oh god what have I done.
