Imagine for a moment that you have a hero who's just like Superman. He's invulnerable, compassionate, has super speed, near-infinite strength, can fly, and can shoot lasers out of his eyes. He's the first superhero, the one who codified the entire genre when he first appeared in comic books in the 1930s.
Now imagine that time was allowed to flow normally in his story. As his powers grew he didn't age, but everybody else did. Everyone he has ever cared about has died of old age. All that is left in his life is fighting supervillains, saving people, and going home to his cabin by a lake.
And now imagine that he fell out of his comic book into the world that created it, and learned that he is a fictional character.
It is my pleasure to introduce you to Captain Infinite, who made his debut in my novel in Chapter X.
