Where did you story came from?

spire is actually a continuation/expansion of my season 1 audition of cascade cabaret OCT (which i'm also competing in season 2 with my other comic). i lost season 1 of ccoct after round 4, but found myself really attached to my characters and their world, and decided to expand on what i'd explored during my round 0/audition (it became the beginning of chapter 2 up until william and cog hit the dead end wall).

enccore (mentioned above) is my season 2 entry for cascade cabaret. i actually made it past round 4 this time and will get to give my characters an actual ending! i'm also surprised that it actually got some attention on this site, i was mostly mirroring it here because i liked the old scroll format and only expected 50 readers at the most.

i think its kinda funny how theres some overlap between the comics. i figured since the setting of the cascade cabaret deals with multiverses that it would be fun to still have season 1 william and cog present in enccore and have their spire versions be an alternate universe/good ending of their audition.

I invented my story and characters either when I was bored at my work in the bank, or when I walked after it, freely thinking.

I enjoy very much listening to musical duets of man and woman, if they are singing emotionally, expressive and harmonically complement each other in the same time. For example, such as it is performed in the songs "The kinslayer" or "I wish I had an angel" by Nightwish or "Where Is the Blood" by Delain. I know, that it is a bit strange, but it somehow inspired me to make the story with man and woman as main characters... ¯(ツ)/¯ There is also one song, which even inspired for the particular plot…

Ideas can come from everywhere ...

Hi! Well, my latest story (RedZone-137) was inspired by a youtube video about some guys trespassing into a SEGA arcade at the Fukushima's exclusion zone. Seeing the place completely abandoned, the silence in which in another time could have been a very noisy place, the fact that there was something dangerous but which you couldn't see, fascinated me to some point and made me question myself: "what if the world, as we know it, eventually ended?" "How would humanity survive in isolation, hidden in shelters?" "What if that outside world we take for granted actually becomes strange? Distant?"

Now with everything going on in the world, this whole plot scares me hahaha xD But I'm taking what's happening as a direct inspiration now.

By the way, I read the first chapter of your comic. Seems like a very interesting premise! And I don't think there's anything bad on taking inspiration from other stories, most plots have already been written. But the charm is in the way you write it, how you make that plot yours.

All of my fantasy story ideas come to me in dreams with the magic system worldbuilding fully formed. For my current story, I was doing a creative writing job application and had to write something "steamy". Then I found myself wondering what happened to my characters after so I just kept going.

I like telling the way I made this story in this simple manner:

You know love triangles? You know how much they suck? The initial plot of my comic, The Stars Above Us, basically going "what if the two love rivals fall in love WITH EACH OTHER instead"

And uh... The concept just starts devolving from there until I have the current plot.

Hahaha, all of you getting inspiration from entertainment while I got mine from my pure, unfiltered hate for love triangles. Wonder what would've happened if I went with that story tho.

On another hand, I got the idea for my fantasy comic from Hetalia. That is a long, very detailed story that I'll probably type in when I wake up later, because it's 2am and I need to get ready for bed.

I created my short comic when I was in a really bad fight with my family...I have some home issues ( ...I guess like every family...) that day there was power cut and I was really stressed, suddenly I grabbed a pen and a paper and started to draw...that's how I made my lovely comic, of course everything it's fine in my life now

My story plot, Gemmoner, is created by myself only. I always think of it almost everyday and figure out about what could make it better. I build characters, think of the plot, mind mapping my story and do dialogue all by myself. My story is inspired from one anime " Fate/Stay Night" about manservant.

My story was inspired by a random joke i said while talking to a friend. Like if you accidentally found out you were immortal and you went to a doctor: and they were like 'It seems like you might have a slight chance of immortality...' and the patient would Freak OUT. XD, and yea i built on that - and thats where i found both my title and plot! "A slight chance of Immortality"!

Cryptids and the supernatural. Ever since I was young, I've always thought to myself: what if I could make a story based on cryptids that lived in their own world? Fighting evil, connecting with the characters, and having adventures? Thus, Cryptic Yume was born. I've always believed that if humans can have stories, emotion, and adventures, why can't cryptids?

Idk. I just rolled with it to be honest. Having the idea of someone's POV towards the MC of the story. I wanted to reveal at the end that the POV that you're reading from is the FBI agent the MC was assigned to. But that's stupid considering this person's POV I'm writing doesn't exactly know much about the MC and can only observe the MC inside MC's apartment since I restricted it to one place for the setting of the story.

My story came from me being salty about the medical industry. The plot ideas just came to me over time on their own. Characters were inspired from roleplays I did. After making up a lot of stuff on the spot you start to keep one or two things and start meshing your own ideas with it.
