Although I find the idea of spending the rest of my life creating failed projects extremely depressing.
It's terrifyingly depressing indeed. But again, a life of making no projects at all I find is even more depressing.
Considering that though, I've found it useful to view project making in the same context as boxing
As seen above, the most common type of punch thrown in a boxing match is the jab--they're small, minor, and most importantly, they're the fastest.
Boxers often use this punch to gauge distance between themselves and their opponent, and most of all in setting up bigger punches to do massive damage.
You can apply this mentality to the larger picture of project creation: create multiple smaller projects, use them to test what you can and can't do, and iron out your shortcomings.
When one of these small projects gets a large amount of attention, commit to that right cross and throw that power punch--aka, use that small project as leverage to make something bigger.
Looking through your profile, I presume that 'My Pet Succubus' is your main big project.
If you want to try out what I've written up, you can still continue working on it while making other small things on the side. Even putting it on hiatus would be fine--however, you'd have to discuss this with your Patrons, since this directly concerns what they may be paying for.
Either way, best of luck mayn--your stuff is horny and cute.
