It has been a year since I decided to give Tapas a chance and re-work my novel to publish here. A year of going from three times a week updates to weekly updates. And getting a small audio teaser made. But I am still going and season II will arrive as planned.

And as a small celebration for lasting a year, I have released a teaser chapter from season II of Beyond the Void

https://tapas.io/episode/2353730

This is a small thank you to all who have read my story, even a single chapter of it. And a small chance for you all to share, where were you a year ago? What chapter was your story stuck on? Were you re-writing or already publishing for the second year in a row? What was your experience like?

Hey,

Thanks for making this thread. For me, a year ago. I would still be in the editing/rereading phase of this very collection. Never would have thought that I actually would publish it on here and continue to do so of the remade of this collection. Anyway, gere's mine. It's a collection of spoken word and quotes, collected over the span of 4 years. The genres are fantasy, slice of life and a little bit of non-fiction- Interested? Here's the description below!

In this technologically advanced generation where we are continuously connected yet constantly isolated, the feeling of invisibility can be quite deafening as a result. Even so, when night falls, people from all walks of life gather at this particular place. A blissfully tranquil land where any memories can be found amongst countless levitating, multicoloured bubbles. Nevertheless, there was once a girl with an enchanted quill who stood in the fragile veil between these contrasting worlds... Determined to record and make known the symphonies of the countless travellers who have traversed the land. Who knows? Your symphony may be lying in wait amongst her collection...

A Year ago I was still unsure on my final draft direction, and I was mostly working on it as a Novel, which at the time was a completely different, if not more complex and confused (And divided in 3 act).
It's quite uncanny how plans changed in one year, but this time I'm more satisfied.

Oh, this one's gonna be long ^^" Exactly one year ago, I actually went and started drawing the introduction episode of my project! - or actually starting anything that had to do with rebooting it "one final time", if you can phrase it like that! (Because I finished the cringy novel-versions of this project years prior.)

2019-2020 were sort of tougher times for me and I didn't really know what to do with myself or with my project & art in general, but in the 2nd half of 2020, I realized (with a little push) that I needed to make a change for myself for anything to get better and I started with rewriting the whole thing to make it a more fleshed out version of what it used to be and just started drawing. In German, we actually have a funny phrase that's called "den inneren Schweinehund besiegen", which means to stand up and "just do it".

The story itself is about many things, so I usually leave the interpretation of certain happenings to every individual themselves. For me - the first saga at least - is about growing up, as cruel and abrupt as it can be sometimes and how everyone has to carry their own cross one way or another, which will become more prominent in later parts of the story. But it also has many things I love in it, which is why it is more of a multi-crossover fanfiction with lots of shonen-elements.

The story is on chapter 3 right now, where the first major event happens, so feel free to check it out :3

A year ago I updated 1 episode a week. Now update twice a week. Keep making the story better to enjoy.

A year ago I was still writing the script of Square One. Mentally speaking I was also in the gutter.

war flashbacks

(the episode this came from came out one year ago today lol)

An exact year ago? Just getting back into drawing. I used to draw a lot in middle school, but fell out of it in high school, so much so that I even tossed out all my sketch books and art supplies when I went off to college...then the pandemic hit and I needed a "new" hobby lol.

7SSC was a story I had been developing for a long time, but never expected I would make it a real thing until y'know I made it a real thing LOL. I think around december once I felt my drawing chops were ok enough I bit the bullet and said OK I'm gonna DO IT, LETS GOOOOO

A year ago I was still working on the overall story of my comic Auster and starting to work on the script for the first chapter.

Hello, thanks for the thread! Here's my comic:

Auster

Action / Horror / Urban fantasy

To get back his memories and avoid being alone Dasch will join a War
between secret organizations. But can this socially anxious kid survive
in a world in which people develop powers from their trauma and suffering?

A year ago i was arguing should i write anything at all, i always would give myself tasks i need to accomplish before i can write (well publish), and this summer i finally forced myself to write, let's see where this takes me

A year ago I was on a hiatus from drawing my webcomic- or rather, I stopped working on it about two years earlier and I thought I won't be back to drawing it. I think around that time I slowly started missing drawing my series, but got too discouraged with 'I'd have to change and redraw so many things there, there's no point in it' mindset. My comic was stuck at chapter 12 page 7 since Aug 14, 2018.

But now I'm happily back and just continuing where I left, without redrawing or redoing previous pages

Hmm, a year ago...I had just about wrapped up volume 1 of Space Pirate. I was looking for a good printing company to go with and landed on Mixam Printing. Now, here I am wrapping up volume 2!

Last year around this time, I was still at max optimism for the new D&D comic that I was working on, and launched earlier this year. December 2020 an event in our campaign happened that made me a little uncertain about continuing, and by the time the comic finally launched in March 2021 I was already almost ready to throw in the towel  Alas I put the project on infinite hiatus earlier this summer, but it was still a lot of fun to work on! I still have 1 completed episode that I need to upload someday... the hiatus announcement said it would be out in July but that, uh, didn't happen lmao.

2020 for me was an eye opener for many things not only with comics but life in general

still love drawing and making comics and hope to continue the journey through and though

Let's see...

Almost exactly one year ago, I drew this page

It's... not great

I can't show my most recent pages yet, but here's a page from last month's episode as a comparison

One year ago I also uploaded only a couple of pages a week, but now I upload full 12-18 page episodes once a month. I didn't have quite as clear of an idea of where the story would go at the time, but now I know how I want Cat Club to end and how many arcs it'll have. Who knows where I'll be in another year, but it's kinda exciting to think about

Good thread. A year ago is too far back for me to remember. I was probably in the same room, with the same big-screen computer, and the same keyboard in my lap. I think the Lazy Boy was different.

A year ago, I was still continuing my webtoon reboot of Magical Renegades. The pace was more steady, and I participated in two art challenges last year: JOKETOBER in October and Huevember in November. Exactly one year ago, I was drawing something for Huevember!

My update schedule has been slower this year since I've been juggling my webtoon with an ambitious spin-off project! I didn't participate in any art challenges this year, but made pieces of pixel art and more 3D renders for practice!
