Which angle is better? (Just need some help on a sketch)

I've got two images of the same scene drawn from two persepctives. One is a lower angle looking upwards, the other one is a looking down. Both are rough sketches though the lower shot one is a bit more along than the other.

Which angle do you prefer? I'm stuck liking both, and both have a different vibe based on the position and face of the main character in the shot.

Hmm, there are strengths to both versions!

In 1., you get the feeling that the girl is more threatened - the monster is looming over her! - but in 2., you get to see the girl's face, which means we can read her emotions better.

I think I prefer 2!

If you want to give the feeling that your main character is in trouble/helpless, the second image works better.
if you want to focus on the monster and make it appear really powerful, the first image will work better if the monster occupies more of the scene. good luck!

There's so much more of an implied swooping/reaching movement in the second one, I really dig your perspective skills there! The second is a nice angle for action! There's so much potential energy in the second and we get to see the character's awesome expression.

That being said, her legs are gorgeous in the first! Wonderful foreshortening there.

Thank you! I wish I could have some how got her face to look right in that weird angle in the 1st image, but just couldn't get the expression right, and she felt more intimidating with that hood up over her face in that one.

Second one actually shows her sense of humor and her "What the hell is this..." face. That expression alone is what makes it for me.

Hmm, I like the idea of making him bigger, wonder if I should increase his size and put him on the roids persay or have him actually get his poor knee over that ledge. I might have to play and see if I can make him look more ready to claw her face off.

Second one, he's already scary and right close to the viewer. I think putting our hero in a bit of a bind is out of the ordinary for her, which I get a bit more amusement out of.

Thank you soo much! I wanted to make it seem that this bugger is mean and nasty, and that reaching claw is terrifying... specially when I get that bloody dripping goodness on it. I think the second is growing on me more because of the reach and her expression is priceless.

And thank you so much on the legs, I can't say how many times I erased, re-did, erased again to get them bent right!

You could also render both scenes. Set up the big bad monster as a real threat in one panel and show that your main character is really in trouble in the next. If your page permits it, doing both scenes could add to the dramatic tension.

Why not show them both as different panels? That way you can show off your angles. One being the before image, the second being the after image. (or vice versa, depending on what you would want to do)

I'm gonna vote with the majority - the second is more readable than the first to me!

They're both good angles, but 2 is definitely more dramatic. It depends on your style in the rest of the comic as well I suppose. But if it were me I'd use the second, maybe with a follow up frame of the creatures face, mid attack (or whatever your next action is). Hope that helps!

I thought about that too - but I think I'm going to roll with 2 for now and use the first one in a sort of title or banner at a later point and time Thanks for the assist!

Lol, Majority wins! I took a break from both just to stand back and think about it myself. Worked on another piece in the mean time. I like the 2nd over all for the panel I'm working on. Thanks for the input!

First one feels more like the intro pages that I have sketched out already and working on at the moment. That second one has a follow up of a nasty claw swipe, but that's still being worked on. Thanks for the input!

I thought about that as a lead up into the page, but I think I like 1st one by it self and will give it a proper painting than putting it directly in the comic. Her pose is too good to throw out, though I'm going to work on the monster a bit more!
