Which art programs do y'all use?

@Lady_T_Musings I must admit as much as I love CSP, Procreate seems to be the option of choice on iPad. Though I have yet to try it

It's mostly a painting program. It's not super great for lineart (although it's manageable and right now I have more issues with my own limitations than with the program), so I suppose that's why it is not used a huge lot for comics.

I use Krita. It's a great all rounder in my opinion, but the text tool can be frustrating to use.

CSP EX user here (switched from Pro because of the batch exports, they save so much time when you need to save 10+ pages long chapter in 3-4 different sizes), I've tried some other programs in the past but csp is the one that has the best feeling for me (it just needs a liquify tool and photoshop scripts support and I'd even be able to use it for my day job and say goodbye to adobe's bloatware 'xD)

I use a mixture of Clip Studio and Photoshop. Just finally pulled the trigger on CSP during 2020's black friday sale, and glad I did! It does ineed have tons of useful features, and the webtoon exporting feature added in December is super useful for lots of things

Buuuut there are a number of things that I'm either too used to or that don't exist in CSP that still have me using Photoshop for parts of my process. Lettering is one, certain layer styles and effects are another. And even some simple things like Clip Studio lacking a "drag a copy of the selection on the same layer" option. It's frustrating to have to copy a selection to a new layer, drag/mirror it into place, and then re-merge the two layers every time

But like lots of other things, CSP is king. From the coloring tools, to perspective grids, to easy timelapses.

In short I like both programs~

@BarBarKetrab yeah the text tool isn't the best in CSP either. It's almost there, just missing a few features such as kerning.
What's wrong with the text tool in Krita?

@Animefanka The batch exports is a GODSEND (I love the 3D page previewer too!). I've heard a lot that liquify is one thing Photoshop has over CSP, though I can't remember exactly what it does? Also what's your day job?

I use an older version of Krita so the problems I have may not apply to people with newer versions of the program. In my case, I'm unable to set a default text configuration and have to keep repeating the process of changing the font/size whenever I type something new. Also, I don't think it's as easy to warp or curve the text (at least in my version) as it is on other programs.

Then again, I still consider myself to be a bit of a newbie at digital art so maybe I just need to learn and try more out.

I'm working in game dev, mostly as a level designer nowadays but I also make some 2d assets from time to time and liquify comes quite handy when adding expressions to the characters - let's say I need a surprised face, I could draw them from scratch or... I could take an existing pair and move their centres upwards with liquify or raise characters mouth corners to make them smile more

If I would have to say I would prefer aggie over Kleki mainly because Aggie is more Advance than Kleki and yeah Ibis Paint is pretty great lol

I use Clip Studio, Photoshop, and Illustrator. I use CSP mostly for pencil and ink(cept when I did a bunch of pieces last year and colored with CSP), and Photoshop for coloring; yeah CSP does color but there are some things that PS does better or PS has that CSP hasn't gotten yet.

I use Illustrator for lettering (plus logo and book design when formatting my comics for print); CSP does have lettering but not as good as Illustrator...I picked up Affinity Designer, which is a close alternative to Illustrator(and for a one-time price) but haven't tinkered with it yet to get a feel for it. Once I do- if it works for me & does everything I need it to do, I'll most likely drop Illustrator.

I tried using Procreate, but did not like their interface and workable area size.

@Rhonder CSP does lettering, but right now that is one the program's WEAKEST features. I stick with Illustrator, coz the vectoring makes the lettering look crisp af.

Procreate over here! It's not ideal for comics, but all my custom brushes are there, and I'm so used to the workflow that it would be a monumental undertaking trying to change to anything else. Once I upgrade my iPad to the new Pro's releasing soon, some of the limitations Procreate has will become a thing of the past.

I really enjoy the program, it feels very natural and organic to me.

Yeahh, it's definitely serviceable but not great The thing that probably frustrates me the most currently is how CSP auto-rasterizes your text layers (from photoshop at least) when importing PSD files I usually try to take care of lettering and paneling before bringing the comic into CSP for coloring & etc., and then go back to Photoshop for final touches at the end, so I've been having to keep a copy of every comic with editable text and it's just... eugh. Because otherwise I have to retype any bubbles that need editing from scratch xD

Autodesk Sketchbook for sketching.
I like how fast and not complicated it is, you open the program and can draw right away.
It may sound lazy but that´s more a mental thing, when I start photoshop or clip studio I first
need to start a new file. I also love the zoom/rotate tool in Sketchbook, you can zoom & rotate
with one tool / the spacebar

I use Clip Studio Paint now for inking and coloring now, I´m learning that at the moment.
For some reason it takes me forever to get used to CSP, I don´t know why but it´s really
hard for me to get used to the interface. It´s a great program and I really want to get used
to it

And Photoshop for record covers, flyers & posters

Photoshop is my main for nearly everything. CSP is my main for my comics just cuz everything in it is so specifically tailored for comics. I can't stand the tools in CSP for how I like to color, so I color my comics in PS. I also use 3DStudio Max for more complicated props and backgrounds and import those into CSP.

I use Photoshop for coloring, text, and layout, and Corel Painter for sketching, inking, and a couple brushes for other things as they come up. I have a couple assets I made in Illustrator as well. I've thought about getting CSP, but I got Photoshop right before they went strictly subscription based. Plus, I already have my comic process streamlined to what works for me.

Sometimes I'll drag firealpaca in if i want to do a basic animation for something but i use medibang for just about everything. i've got csp but it's got a lot goin on in the ui so for simplicity's sake i've been sticking to my guns. i do try to replicate the occasional csp brush every now and then but the customization is definitely different in terms of blending and other stuff
