My comic is cyberpunk/western/apocalyptic elements with a female protagonist. I try to put her in ridiculous situations and have fun with the violence and action.

I'm on Global Comix, it's fun, come join us

You want to create a large version with the same ratio and then save out at the correct size. So for example for the thumbnail, you'd work at maybe 1000x1000 and then save it at 300x300. Leave your original file at the large size, don't rescale the canvas. You should have options when you save for w…

Also 38, I'm lurking here everyday lol. I'm more active on Discord and Twitter.

I managed to do 3 attacks this year for Team Wither, it's always a lot of fun! Here's my page:

I don't get a chance to do too many of these, but I am active this year!

Oh man, ugly faces are my favorite. :joy: [image]

Life drawing can sound lame and boring at first, but what you're doing is learning to see the subject and recognize details and apply them to a drawing. These are super important skills as a good basis for drawing. You will be able to apply this skill to figure drawing, coloring, gestures, lighting,…

You can go to the three dots on the left side side where it says "More" and then go to Topics and then select topics you are interested in. That should help it show you more of the topics you actually want to see, though I'm not sure you can totally escape what's trending.

It kind of starts out feeling like you're posting to the void. The way it worked best for me is when I genuinely wanted to connect with people and just go there to have a good time and look at memes and cool art. I found a few communities and fandom hashtags to post art in. I started commenting on p…

Hope you don't mind a little paintover! I just had a couple suggestions, I think it looks really cool! I think the font choice is too detailed for an outline. An outline might work if it were a chunkier font, but ultimately I think it reads better as just a plain red. Possibly the same idea for t…

After I write some bulletpoints on how I want my story to go, I do a super rough thumbnail layout to see if the story, panels and gags work. This is done in a mix of programs: Procreate, Clip Studio, or Photoshop. No real reason for this, Procreate is easy to just sit on the couch and sketch layouts…

I copy the line layer and use the tool on the copied layer.

My TikTok is pretty much nothing but quick lil art timelapses :candy:

I've been forcing myself to do more detail on backgrounds, it's so daunting sometimes lol [image] [image] [image]

lol thanks! Comics can be anything, do what you want!

"No plot" is basically my entire comic. I have some continuity, but each episode is kind of it's own contained adventure. I was really inspired by old 70's Judge Dredd comics which also did exactly that. They were like 6-7 page individual stories, and I really liked that approach. I just wanted to m…

Oh man, can I stop breaking up my pages for Tapas and just post them how I originally drew them? I always thought people preferred scroll comics here.

Tapas and GC are now my top two I like posting on. :+1:

I post to GlobalComix, and it has become one of my favorite places to post, though they don't have as large a reader base as some of these other webcomic sites. I really appreciate that they have been working on ways to surface and feature smaller comics and creators. They also like to get feedback …

Lots of fan art and worked on my comic this year  [image]

I have one I made last year! I tried to make one this year, but couldn't finish in time :confounded: It's bloody, so be warned, lol. https://tapas.io/episode/1999185 [image]

Dan Panosian is an artist I love who does some amazing freehand backgrounds. This tweet kinda stuck with me. Like other people have already said, I think you just need to experiment with the backgrounds and find a background drawing style that fits with your characters. Go crazy; go too far in all d…

I heavily use 3D for mostly backgrounds, but also with complicated props like vehicles and weapons. I kitbash as well as model my own stuff to create what I need. I use 3D Studio Max, import to Clip Studio and then use their line conversion tool to make it lineart. Then I draw on top of that to try …

I didn't realize there were so many traditional format comics on here! I draw all of mine in traditional format and submit to GlobalComix but then I break it up for scroll format for Tapas. I guess I figured since most people visit Tapas on their phone, it would be easier to read in scroll. Y'all go…

I use WorldAnvil kind of as an encyclopedia for myself to keep track of characters, relationships, timelines, history, things like that. It's supposed to be used for roleplaying campaigns, but I find it very useful for my comic. and it's free!

Last year I saw some places doing drive-through haunted attractions, so maybe that could be an alternative!

I played it, and I really liked it a lot. Though, it was very weird and very Kojima and I definitely have a hard time recommending it to people as well as describing it, lol. I'd say if you have patience and like Kojima games, then definitely check it out.

I don't expect any of my friends or family to read my comic, but I'm very fortunate to have some friends, family and coworkers who do enjoy reading what I do. My comic is self indulgent and I make it for me, everyone else is just invited along for the ride. And for the people who don't read my comic…

I'll second @Lirina's suggestions. I've had a lot of fun and better success getting into groups of people who like similar things. Use relevant hashtags, interact with people, participate in twitter events, retweet folks, and you'll find your people.
