Which webcomic genres do you favor the most?

To answer the question, I love BL, sci-fi (steampunk, cyberpunk), mystery, horror, supernatural, dark comedy, sci-fi-fantasy. Yep.

But I usually get drawn to a story by the characters. If a character picks my interest, I'll read everything just to know more about them. From the story they're in, to the wiki pages, to looking at concept art, looking for every piece of fanart, etc.

This sort of thing lead me through some bizzare stories that I would never ever look at if I had to pick by genre or synopsis. Sometimes I have regretted to go through the pain of reading the stuff :'D But in the end, all in all, it was worth my time and sanity for that one awesome character. (I'm looking at you, Demonbane!)
But sometimes if the story is just too cliche/boring/other characters pissing me off, not even the best intentions to get to that one bae will help to get through that shitty story...

I generally like action sci-fi fantasy type stuff and keener still if I think its a particularly cool art style, but I've found it hard to get into deep stories as I tend not to have a lot of time on my hands these days, so my reading list has become dominated mostly by comedies. If it makes me laugh in a single issue, then it's normally a keeper.

Man, it goes from anything with a deep plot(if it's psychological I'm on that) to the silly slice of life comics. It really varies but if the art and content is good and appeals then I'll follow it regardless of genre.

Mostly comedy. I have a crazy short attention span so they are usually the perfect length to keep me interested.

I love fantasy with dynamic art, but I definitely think style affects my enjoyment. I've found myself most drawn to humor and slice-of-life comics, probably a hold-over from my days reading newspaper comic strips. One thing I really love about webcomics is that you can find some pretty niche subjects that might not appeal to everyone, but are just right for you, whereas newspaper strips try to appeal to a common denominator.

i could go for whatever i guess but comedy and scifi and fantasy are my favs! and horror if its more on the spooky creepy side instead of the angry gory side

I like drama... with the sub genres of
supernatural (Revival, Black Magick, Preacher)
sci fi (Fear Agent, Saga, Copperhead)
and adventure (Manifest Destiny).

I'm not into fantasy so much, but I also enjoy slice of life (Clowes work for example) or Blankets and Smile (used to be a web comic!)

I adore mystery, thriller and horror, but have favourites in almost every genre. Also, since my own comics are more serious I have started to read more lighthearted/comedy comics than I used to.. just to balance it out a bit

No one is thinking about sports? I draw a webcomic about baseball (Casabase) and Sports could be a good genre!
When I was young, I remember a lot of anime and manga about various sports: volleyball, tennis, baseball, soccer (a lot!), golf ... I actually follow a webcomic about exteme bikers ... Sport can be a good genre ...

Well it's not easy to raise one genre above others since there are great comics in all genres. But still at the moment I guess my most favorite ones are drama/romance-based. I really love stories which have character-driven stories. I love to get emotionally involved with the cast of the comic and feel with them if you get my meaning. If we talk about drawing style...well then I'd say (again at the moment) I like art that's something like 'stylized realism'.

You're absolutely correct! I read comics across all genres and at the end of the day, a good comic is a good comic, whether it be adventure/fantasy/mystery/horror/romance/comedy or whatever! But it's okay to have preferences too (if you have them!) :3!

Reading wise? Anything, although I'm not much of a fan of gag style comics, haven't found many that fit my sense of humour. But as long as it's entertaining, and the visuals are decent, genre is the last thing I think about.

I am absurdly addicted to urban fantasy. Before ORANGE and I decided on our current comic I was trying really hard to sell her on an urban fantasy idea I had. But in the end we decided Celestial Wheel would be more fun for both of us.

Well, some of my favorites are comedy and some slice-of-life-stuff... but I could really get into comics of most genres as long as they're otherwise interesting? Character-driven is a big plus for me, as I'm very "character-focused" and often find the characters one of my favorite parts of an universe/story. A cool/interesting/appealing visual style is also a huge plus no matter what genre.
It would be easier to list what I'm NOT generally interested in(in comics or other media): the typical "european medieval" style high fantasy (that whole aesthetic just doesn't really appeal to me in general), romance, sports, stuff that's way to grimdark and serious. Though even some of these have some examples I still enjoy and could get into, so it's not always a complete dealbreaker if it's otherwise good (still don't think I'm gonna get into a super SRS BSNS grimdark comic though)

Yep, can definitely relate to this, the main reason I started reading Homestuck was Terezi - I kept seeing those weird grey people with horns around and thought "hmm this one with the red glasses seems really cool, I wanna know more about her"

OMG I started to read Homestuck because of Nepeta XD high fives I saw fanart of her, and a few other trolls around, and I thought the designs were pretty cool.

When I finally found the comic, the first pages I stumbled upon were when Equius got owned by Gamzee, and Nepeta leaped at him in revenge. In which Gamzee blocked her. I thought "wow this is pretty intense". I honestly thought it was just some random gag comic. So I went to the very beginning and binge read it XD

I tend to lean more towards the comedy/slice of life end of the spectrum. I'd read more genres, but a lot of the comics I'm interested in have text that's too small for me to read (even when I'm zoomed in on my screen).
