Which would sound more interesting to read about?

So I'm writing the next chapter for my detective novel currently but I'm having difficulty picking which one of two options for the new case to write about first.

1. This one is about mistaken identity (one twin committed the crime but the blame was placed on the elder twin).

2. This one is a bit more cruel, involving "mercy killings" by a deranged lunatic who thinks murder is the only way to "free those unfortunate souls".
