Who has been your biggest inspiration for either your comic or novel? Looking to expand my influence base. Also, who's comic or novel do you love on tapas?

For my comic (and art in general) my biggest influence has been LavenderTowne (Haley Mewsome on Tapas)

I've had a lot of influences, but Michael Moorcock is probably the biggest. If you squint, The Patchwork Paladin even starts to look like an entry in his Eternal Champion mythology. There's a hero destined to bring balance, a down-to-earth sidekick, a doomed love interest, and so on.

Right now I'm really into Drugs and Wires. It's non-stop humiliation conga for the hero but I'm hoping it'll all work out.

Mine....would have to be mango mando, the first comic i've read on tapas and found out about tapas from pinterest

Well....
Gimkhana for emotional emphasis, especially expressions, Aether: Earth and Sun for gesture and talented paneling, Feral Gentry for storytelling and building environments, and BOOKWYRMS for storytelling and environments, and distinct characters. Oh, and the artist Ka-ren for panelling. Just a few, hope they inspire you!

oh man, one of the big reasons I got into webcomics in the first place was Tess Stone's infamous Hanna is Not a Boy's Name, and Tyson Hesse's Boxer Hockey. Both of which no longer actively update, but they still have a huge place in my heart.

Lately my biggest inspiration has been Ashley Cope's Unsounded

Reading other series, video games, and the like. In fact my series is inspired by fantasy RPG's and Role Playing Games in general.

the one who got me into wanting to make a webcomic was a Pkmn yellow nuzlock by Landwalker (Rih since 2013) but the inspiration for my comic was more series like Digimon tamers and Zatch bell, cute and innocent things going through hard ships is something I like a lot

I have many influences, and some are published writers, self-published writers, and comic artists here on Tapas.

Here are my favorite Tapas stories:

Pretty much all those stories are a mix of what I enjoy; I love horror, romance, fantasy, and action. All of these artists have fantastic art and storytelling.

There are a lot, but definitely Giant Days by John Allison, and honestly, a lot of sitcom drama/comedies like Community and You're the Worst.

I hope this doesn't sound so cliched.
My inspiration for these things is John Green AND Neil Gaiman. Aside from both being NY Times best-selling authors, they revolutionized their respective genres, and provided quite a lot of material for us writers to work with.
It's also my personal goal to revolutionize the slice-of-life/teen romance genre. It's fallen apart, and I want to fix that.

My writing was mainly inspired by my Afrikaans teacher in Grade 6 & & and my English teacher in grade 8 and then another Eng. Teach in grade 11 & 12

Because of them I've explored many different writings and I loved to read so I have plenty of influences!

Though I would say Shakespeare is a great influencer I don't tend to write as such mainly cause I just love to read, but I do get plenty of inspiration from him and then not to forget a movie I once watched when I was in grade 3 (just when I fell in love with Literature - was bored in hotel room and picked-up one of Mom's super romance books when she noticed she grabbed it from my hand and we walked to the mall to buy my very 1st book - Enid Blyton's A hole in her pocket)... The movie's name was Finding Forrester

Part of what made me finally get off my ass and start a comic strip was a couple of strips I started following on dA (and still follow):
If I by Mister-Saturn and Something Other by C.E. Cameron

In terms of direct influences on my strip, here are the ones that I think are most prominent:

George Herriman (Krazy Kat)
Milt Gross
Walt Kelly (Pogo)
Anthony Clark (Nedroid)
Impressionism/Post-Impressiom (e.g. Vincent Van Gogh, Paul Cezanne, etc.)

The Ant-Man stories from Marvel's Tales to Astonish were what inspired me to use some abstract color patterns in some panels.

Okay, uhhh, I have a few!

For Low-Tier Jane, my biggest has definitely been Bill Watterson, of Calvin and Hobbes fame. That man is pretty much my comic childhood, and I grew to like newsaper-styled comic strips upon reading his comics!
For my other art, I'd say I'm definitely inspired by the likes of older cartoons, like Warner Bros, and a lot of Cartoon-Network styled things, as well as the blocky and stylized art of things like Danny Phantom and My Life as a Teenage Robot. When it comes to comic art and what I want to grow to get better as, I spend a lot of time studying BONE, which I love to pieces!
