Ooh, neat thread idea!

Here's the first pic I ever posted of my comic's main character, Kilroy. XD Surprisingly, not much has changed over all design-wise! Biggest things of note that I can see is that I've learned to draw noses since then, added a domino mask, and switched out the long flowing coat for some coattails.

I still use my concept pieces to make sure I use the right colours when making new strips.

On the left is the original drawing (drawn by hand because I had no confidence in my digital skills) and on the right is one of her most recent appearances. Her headband looks a lot better now.

What I can show you tho... Is actually a reboot of my comic Heritage!
I wanted to see if the main characters could interact with each other and... Yeah.
However, I didn't like where the story went, so I made some slight changes to both story and characters as seen below!

Yup, all digital. It's a lot easier than fighting with a scanner every time. It's worth the extra time it takes too, because it looks so much better. Best decision I ever made regarding the comic.

These are the final concepts for some "Dragon" concepts I wanted to make to beef up my presentation for college. I felt at the time that any illustrator or concept artist worth their salt could draw a dragon. Looking at them now, they barely look like dragons but I still had a good time making these.

This was a look at my main character before we realized this style DID NOT fit our story. Too Saturday morning cartoon. Good drawing though. She looked super adorbs.

This is another really early drawing of our main and her dad. We really struggled trying to find what her father looked like. It took us months to nail down his design...

So once all that was there we decided, okay this is all way too 'kid' looking and people are gonna be frustrated if they think this is for 6 year old Timmy and not....16 year old Jared. SO, we went back to the drawing board and came up with this....

And WE LOVED IT, but the more we looked at this the more we realized the styling was really a struggle to keep consistent. Moving her face around and keeping her expressiveness was a real pain. Since we had the polar opposites of either side we tried to find a happy medium...

And we found her!!

And she's SO much fun to work with now! Her expressions come across easy and fun without looking too hard or too soft.

We have several other characters, but since Markesha's our main I figured focusing on her was best. If y'all wanna see more of her you can check out my teams comic at the link vvvvvvvvv

True, true!

I do everything traditional, the sketches were a blue mechanical pencil and then inked with a steel nib!
(tho, inking with nibs took its toll on my wrists so I had to switch to a brush, which can be seen in the later works! They're also traditional, but "coloured" in digitally!)

This was fun! I haven´t pulled up the first design in a long time!

My main character June hasn´t changed too much. I think it looks a lot different because of how my artstyle has changed, but her features are more of what I had in mind when I first created her.

The hair is probably more recognizable, it´s completely straight now...

Aiden, the main lead, on the other hand, has changed quite a bit. I think that has to do with the big character change he had to do when I rebooted the comic a few episodes in. His first design was this over confident Youngster. His Character now has a lot more twists, he´s someone who used to be so sure of what he believes in, and then questioning everything and undergoing a lot of character growth throughout the comic.

I first designed Lock for a school project almost 7 years ago. So so soooo long ago.

And this is what she looks like now. (Almost now, I drew this outfit concept around Christmas. But compared to doodles it's the best piece i have on my phone right now.

7 years makes all the difference

Here are the doodles and scribbles that got me started! Then I fleshed him out and fixed him up!~
Prince Star is only one of the main characters but he was the first one I made.

A lot of hair designs there but I decided to to go with swirl bangs. lol~

A few emotion sketches to get a feel for the character.
