I really love Rushden & Diamonds for being two white guys creating these personas and having storylines in their albums. I wanna do a video on them.
But I don't think... I have a favorite rapper outside those two? Which is weird since I listen to rap as much as I listen to funk.
So I'll just share my favorite rap songs (can't choose, they're all equally great) (wish I can share the dirty ones :v)
I love Slick Rick's "Children's Story" (perfect/raw story in a rap song):
Scarface's "I've Seen a Man Die" (loved how philosophical this one was about death in the ghetto)
Paris's "Devil Made Me Do It" (probably my favorite song regarding systematic racism)
I really love this song since it revealed some details on Sugar Hill Gang's Rapper's Delight AKA "The First Rap Song" (which wasn't really the truth?). Basically Grandmaster Caz was ripped off by one of the singers, so this is a diss track on Rapper's Delight. Really interesting. There's people that think sampling is stealing, and what makes this song on a legendary status is that Sugar Hill Gang owes this guy. So it's probably the only justified song to people with the argument lmao.
And I can't forget about Improvise by Jurassic 5 (was in Jet Set Radio):
