I'd imagine it's a consequence of art and general creative work being so personal to a lot of folks. You put your heart and soul into making something, sharing parts of yourself, you ideas and ideals so when it comes time to present that to a general public obviously there's going to be concern over how it's received as well as it meeting personal standards in terms of quality or appearance
It's also why many are defensive about how it's treated or handled by others by way of theft or being mocked. No one wants bad things to happen to the stuff they've made even if you can't control the general public and honestly I think a vast number of folks have experienced those emotions whether in their early youth just drawing personally or at school and dealing with the reactions of family, friends, classmates, teachers or just other strangers or at a later point in life.
If anything it irks me how often creative communities are mocked for being so sensitive about their work than folks bothering to share a shred of empathy and maybe put themselves in the shoes of those kinds of folks or attempting to understand the different perspective.
As a whole tho i don't think it's surprising that so many people have so many different views and opinions about things so indecisiveness both of the individual as well as a very large group of folks is normal regardless of field or background but the emotional ties is just kind of intrinsic i think for most people, myself included. So maybe to some it's some "haha funny" but I think it's just a human thing.
