itski's Tips For ADHD School/Uni Work:
First thing I did when starting a project or assignment was make a list of what I need to have written. This can be in for form of questions if it's a subject I know nothing about yet.
For example: The Film Industry
What, specifically is 'film' in cinema?
Who invented it?
When did it become a consumer product?
When did colour start being used?
How does is colour displayed?
etc.
Once you have a 'list' written out it's like a little checklist that can feed you dopamine. You complete each 'question' by finding an answer and nothing it down. If you're lucky enough you might go down the right rabbit hole for the assignment, but if you catch yourself off-task, go back to the list and pick a new question.
After you have all your questions answered (with notes for where you got the information for you bibliography) You set aside a different day to write out the actual assignment. Write one paragraph per question you found an answer for until you meet your word limit.
If you need to spit it up more, you can use one day to write the list, one day to research and one day to write the assignment. That's just three days to do the work, which is easier for ADHD to manage than weeks.
Some days are good days and some are bad, that's why most of us leave it till the last minute to do anything. I usually research on the first day of the assignment, and then write it the day before it's due.
Some projects you can't do this, and it sucks. Group projects are the bane of my existence, it means I have to actually do the work before it's due because other people are relying on me, but body doubling helps stay on task for these instances.
