Why don't artists improve their art quality?

This is a really dick-ish thing to say tbh
I know you just meant it as encouragement, but some just do it for fun or are improving at their own pace and as @migxmeg said, good art doesn't equal tons of detail or something that takes hours, days or even weeks to complete

Some don't have the best artistic talent and are just doing their best, fam, or some just do it for fun, they don't really care about it becoming a career

Hmmmm.....dunno. Everyone has a different speed when making "quality" art (air quotations because it is subjective) and have their reasons to keep their art style. I did see an artist in the past on G+ who, to me, downgraded to a different art style and it boggled it me; it took me awhile to just figure out and accept the fact they chose it since they like it more. Tbh, it's all up to the artist

Also time is an issue. I remember seeing a gif that showed a chart with I think "Quality, Time, Quantity" and it fluctuated depending on which part you focused on more. Focus more on quailty, then you have less time and less quantity.

Tbh some genres may have different styles too. Action comics can use a lot of movement, speedlines, special effects and poses. A more painterly style may fail to execute that feeling of action due to the art style.
And a comedy may benefit more from simpler styles as well. Just look at Shencomix.

My two cents here would be:
People ARE improving their art. Some just take a little bit longer than others to get better, not because they want to, but because of reasons people already stated here.
Some improve, but really slowly and it's just how it is!

I mean, I try to improve my art daily and I feel like I'm being completely stuck, not knowing what to improve

You didn't directly insult anybody so don't worry about offending - pretty much everyone on this forum is extremely friendly and helpful. This topic probably hit a nerve a bit because we all try so hard to improve .

I 100% strive to improve my art, I draw something every day. However, I know that I'm not a realistic type of artist with great painter skills. I'm a cartoony artist, with simple stuff. I'm good at lots of things, but still have so much to grow in.

But growth can take time. Some people just let the natural progression take over, as hobbyists. I on the other hand don't just want to be a hobbyist. I wanna be a professional.
Where am I at now?
I'm decent. But I want to get better. Decent isn't enough. So I draw. Every day. And I try to push my limits. I'm growing faster than ever because of it. But I'm realistic, my goal will take time. My entire life in fact.

I don't hate my art by any stretch of the imagination. I just want it to improve. Complacency is death for me. If I'm not chasing improvement, then why even bother picking up a pen?

(I don't apply this belief to everyone. Only myself.This is how I self motivate)

I'm so grateful that people like us do exist, where you strive to make yourself better without hating your current position. I'm a hobbyist and get really less time for art but I try to do better than my last time. Your words themselves are like, more than enough to motivate artists to do better

It's just important to apply the standards you have, to yourself, rather than others. Everyone has a different motive for art.

Huh. We're really doing this I see.

First off, I'm 'new' here isn't an excuse to immediately jump the gun and assume people aren't going for quality.

Second, who exactly are you to decide other artists are not improving their art quality? Do you know people personally? Do you have any idea of their art journey or personal circumstances surrounding their art?

Third, though its fine to be all oogly-eyes for a professional like WLOP I find it highly unfair you compare people's art quality to someone like him. Let people work in thier own space and respect their art style.

Fourth, where are your finished pieces? Let us see the spectrum of that quality you go on about in your own art.

And finally fifth, if you want to collab with other artists it might help just a teensy bit if you didn't accuse them of not improving their art. This isn't about offending people, it's showing respect to your fellow peers.

I have to agree with others have stated here. Sorry, but this post does come across as a bit "tip-tip-fedora". I'm not sure if you meant this post to be insulting but it does come across that way evidently. There are so many factors that go into art and the way you've worded your language here is not clear at all, hence the offense.

This is a hot button discussion, and it's already punched a lot of nerves.

There have been plenty of responses that offer different reasons while also offering different perspectives. It would probably help to reword the question into a broader statement rather than a closed one:

"Why do webcomics/artists have varying degrees of art quality?"

"Is it possible to improve while trying to constantly update webcomics/constantly put out artwork?"

Again, the previous responses are applicable to these new questions, and it helps to paint a bigger picture for what goes into art qualities. Remember, every artist goes through their own journey, and most of the time, we only see the end goal (yes this also includes professionals). You cannot compare everyone to anyone, especially when goals and paths are so different.

I don't think the thread needs to be closed, as most have offered good insight that a lot of people need to understand. But I do want to remind everyone to stay civil.

Yeah, this thing makes me go crazy. Like, each page I do, I slightly improve something, but then I realize I should just get things done .
Still, I tend to put quality over publishing, so I try to avoid rushing things.
