From both Tapas and Webtoons alike, it's about my mixture of genres, my character development, and me mentioning Chicago. I'm a South-side kid from Chicago. I love cosmic horror romance, horror romance, folk horror, and any flowery Renaissance stuff out there. I find a way to mix that all together, and people love it.
I've had people tell me how excited they are to see someone mention Chicago, IL in a webtoon, which isn't often. They'll say "Eyyy, I know that street" or "I know that name!" and feel amazed that someone has the same experiences as them.
They also like that I introduce them to a lot of different subgenres. Several have told me how they started reading other cosmic horror because I have it in Our Universe. The romance pulls them in, but the cosmic horror makes them stay for more.
And the characters -- they jump on that. Several comments have given me deep analysis on why characters do XYZ and how they're dealing with relationships. With Butterflies in her Hair has been doing well on Webtoons with only 2 episodes, and that's because people are hooked on the motives between Priscilla and Troy. They'e trying to figure out if he ever really loved her or if she's being too lenient even though he's killed her, and there's just a lot of theories being thrown around.
Bottom line -- if I got someone to comment a lot about the motives or made them feel nostalgic, I've done well.
