Wish webtoons let you delete comments

I just wanna say THANK YOU to tapas for having the ability to delete comments from readers. Like 99.99% of comments I love, but every now and then you get something really vulgar and it's like... hmmmm

It seems silly how I've been seeing people's episodes that get reported get taken down without warning, even when they are not violating anything... meanwhile I can have these comments which I'm pretty sure violate their policy... and even tho I've had my friends report it, the comments just linger...

I have the same problem.
For the most part, I enjoy my readers comments; but sometimes I get some that are harmful and go over a certain line - and there is really nothing much I can do about them.
Here´s an example of someone clearly crossing a line.

Additionally, I think there is a few times Authors might want to block comments an uploads all together, for the sake of explaining things without getting rushed with a huge negative backwave etc.
It would be great if more options could be added for that in the near future.

Webtoons is like the Youtube/Epic Games Store of Webcomics. It's missing so many necessary and basic features for creators and users, yet they won't change anything because they've got all the money and they're top dog.

I remember reading a comic either in Tapas or Webtoon where the comments were just... the worst and some really vile stuff... and it almost stopped me from reading the actual comic, since you do have to look at the first few at least on Tapas to keep scrolling on browser, and it undermines the experience if you're not super hooked. Maybe it's the author's mirror so they didn't pay too much attention or didn't care about removing them, but good lord the last thing I want for a reader to quit over is the content I have no control over.

I haven't got comments like that yet, but I really can't stand those when I read others' work. They are tasteless and most of time gross and wish people who write those would actually stop for a moment before posting it and think if they really have nothing better to do than to be gross and vulgar under someone else's hard work for no reason.

Ugh, the amount of comments that are just disgusting, offensive, and overall disrespectful I've seen on Webtoons is astounding. I'm only staying because I like reading some of the Originals, and also my comic seems to have a better audience there than here.

It makes sense I suppose. Most of Webtoon's readers and/or commenters are in fact, pre-teens or teens. It still doesn't change the fact that Webtoons' comment sections typically sucks ass.

Arguably, the fact that most of them are probably that age just makes the entire comment situation even more uncomfortable and unpalatable for me... (Set up your game, Webtoons! Seriously!)

Exactly! They have entire comment sections of kids talking like this, which is uncomfortable in and of itself, but "NSFW cannot be on our site to protect the children!!" like the commentors are sheltered kids.

When reality catches up with South Park you know society is a mess. About 3 years ago I was playing Ark on a server with some friends and of all the people playing there was a couple of 12 year olds and a ten year old on mics and they were the most foul mouthed players on the server. One of them also would not stop talking about penis. At one point we all just muted him.

Ugggh that same reader from above called another reader a cunt in my comments today... why is that word not auto censored!?!!? Meanwhile people can't say spoon or suspicious. I just can't make sense of all these double standards.

Honestly, I feel that we should all start raising up a big ruckus to Webtoons about this and their other problems so that they'd finally notice us little guys and fix their dang site! Because if you wain't one of their main sponsored producers, then you're just outta luck for everything there.

lol auto censors can go nuts though too. XD I played a game with an auto filter and we could not write grass, glass, shell, lol if it had a curse in it even innocently within another word it tossed asterisks trough the whole word. And of all things we couldn't write hell yet the game had a monster named hell hound XD

Flashback to Neopets, which to this day censors basement, uncle, grape and skill(this one not everywhere though, can't recall), and the devs have the gall to say they have no plans in making the filter more precise when there are actual items on the site with those names that you can't write. The legendary Day the Filters Went Down is no excuse for people not being able to ask for certain items in the forums.

Auto censors do have a place for the swear words themselves(and just them, not words that happen to contain them) if the site is strictly PG and people can't help themselves, but if someone wants to get toxic, that won't stop them. Moderation from staff or the OP is the only way to control it.

So true. And in the same game I was playing people figured out at first to just put spaces in between a letter or two would defeat the filter. That was later patched in a week. Then later they figured out leet speak was another work around the filter. Each new patch made the filter worse until everyone figured out that capitalizing a letter or two in the middle allowed you to get passed the censor again. It was at that point the devs threw their hands up in frustration. Looking back at it king of avalon was pretty toxic

This is a good point. If they didn't just block anything with the word in it, it'd be ok, but yeah the reason spoon and suspicious are blocked are because of the slurs in those words... so yeah banning too many words can be really problematic. Which is why they should let us delete comments!

I don't get comments, but if people are leaving those kind of comment I did wish there was a way to block them or delete them. Is kind of weird they don't give that power to the creator as the report function is to slow. I am actually surprise those words are not auto-censor, but a word like 'sanity' is O_o
