Word sprints/ art sprints for 30min - 1hour -- anyone want to join?

Hello!! I am trying to get a stupid chapter done but have genuinely lost my motion with this particular chapter. One way to combat this rut is doing some word sprints.

What is a word sprint? You and other people set a timer for a certain amount of time and try to see who can write the most amount of words within those allocated minutes.

How does it apply to artists? I assume artists can also do the same. Either saying how much of a storyboard they can finish or line art or etc.

How would this work? Either over discord or here, I would set a timer for an allocated amount of time. I would give time updates every 10 mins (and when 2 mins left of the time). Then, we would compare the word count of who wrote the most.

Okay but why even do this? I find that word sprints helps motivate me to actually get writing done. It may not be much on the writing side rather the competitive side instead. I've done it before but haven't done it in awhile -- with winter break ending, I want to get at least two chapters done.

How does it apply to artists?

I think a 30 min timer with a challenge to draw the prompt or design the character would be a better way.

Though, it would have to be as close to "finished art" as possible to avoid people tossing down a stick man and calling it a victory.

Oh! Quite like this idea. So maybe to beat out artblock there can be a generated prompt to follow?

Art trades are also really good for artblock too! The overall point of writing sprints is to overcome overthinking by just dashing out the words in the time and also stopping before you have mentally "finished" the scene, thus meaning you're still hungry to write in the next sprint, so maybe the art version would be to storyboard during the sprint? In the writing verson youre supposed to make a work to be edited later. So theoretically, I would argue that putting down a stick figure is just fine as long as that stick figure is foundational to the work and can be shaded/colored/inked into what you want to make in the future.

Lol update. I kinda just did a word sprint (two in a row for forty five minutes) and finished that stupid freaking chapter. Ended up being 4.3k words, today I wrote 2.3k words. So, it works! At least when my adhd meds were working.
