I work on two comics, The Simple Things and Whiteboard Reviews - which brings a grand total of 4 updates a week. The way I've managed this is self-requiring at least an hour of drawing a day, which is usually around 7:30 when I get home from work (being hungry is a good motivator to figure out the page and get to it )
This can get super hectic, especially when I have plans after work some nights and don't provide the proper buffer.
The best thing that has worked for me is to provide a buffer of a least two comics, so that if you miss a day you still have time to catch up. Last week I had zero buffer and that was a stressful time indeed - with the two-day thing I seem to do okay.
That being said, it's all a matter of priorities. I'm finding that mine are shifting a bit away from updating that frequently, so I'm moving to a 3-a-week update versus 4. You'll find your balance too: it's all about looping on what you've done.
