the first chapter of my comic is due to finish later in May. I was thinking of taking a week between chapters to help maintain my buffer. Do you guys reckon its worth taking a week off and then posting recap page(s) before starting chapter 2?

No, it's unneccessary. Your readers have read the chapter before that, and if they can't remember, they can always re-read it. And even then, a week's hiatus isn't enough to make people forget what has happened.

Just take your week off and maintain your buffer. Maybe post some doodles instead of an update. I've seen people do that.

It's not particularly necessary. I mean, it's just one week! But if the first chapter ends with a cliffhanger and the second starts right after that, it may be a good idea to add that last panel of cliffhanger to the very beginning of the second chapter: Let me give you an example:

Chapter 1:
-A: Soo...what did you call me for?
-B: ...
-A: Come on, I don't have all day. If you're not gonna talk, I'm leaving.
-B: I know who the traitor is.

Chapter 2:
-B: I know who the traitor is.
-A: ...Ha? What do you mean-
-B: I know who the traitor is.

Just remember that you can reuse previous images for recaps, no need to go all fancy on that.

yeah, unless you've taken like a year off, and even then. Maybe have one of those *explain it in footnotes things that Marvel likes to do.
