Hey there! Off to a good start it looks like
I read the first 4 episodes (prologue and intro 1-3, I'm on a break at work so unfortunately don't have time to read further now).
For the most part it's solid, i think. The art is simple, yet effective, the font is good and legible, the reading flow is clear and easy to follow, there are a fair amount of backgrounds to provide context to scenes, etc. From a readability standpoint, it passes all of those "Comics 101" type things for me!
If I were to pick one thing to comment on, it would be that the beginning fails to pull me in and build interest to continue reading- this may very well just be a "me" thing, but it starts a little slow and takes too long to get going for my tastes. If I wasn't reading more for review, I may have stopped at Introduction part 1 (Episode 2).
There are two main things that contribute to this I think:
The prologue doesn't strike me as an effective introduction/hook to your comic. The title and series description make it pretty clear that this comic is about Gene, but we spend a whole lore episode just talking about some Jones guy. I get the sense that he's important to this world but I as the reader don't really care (yet!)- especially when the prologue concludes by outright saying "This story isn't about Jones". I'm here for Gene, give me Gene in episode 1.
I noticed that the prologue and all 4 parts of the introduction were uploaded on the same day. I think it may have been worth considering grouping some of these episodes together in that case to formulate a stronger hook rather than breaking them up needlessly. The reason that Episode 2 is where I started to lose interest is because at that point we still haven't been introduced to Gene (I thought the turtle guy may have been him but it was unclear).
If I were to rearrange the pieces that we're working with, I would probably have removed the prologue (and maybe told that world origin story later in the comic when readers are more invested in the world) and combined Intro Parts 1 & 2 into a single Episode 1. That way, even though the comic starts off with these turtle people, the first episode ends on a strong moment where we're made aware that this guy with the bat is Gene, and he means business! This would be such a good ending to the first episode for a comic about gene, imo:
Holding onto it until the end of Episode 3 is too long I think. The thing is, even though the length of the comic is the same either way (well in this case we would be taking out the prologue so we are getting here a little faster), the episodic nature of webtoons is handled similarly to the "page turn effect" in physical comics. In order to get the reader to click to the next episode they need to be engaged and invested in what happens next. The end of "Intro Part 1" does end on a cliff hanger panel, but it's the wrong one to get me invested in the story of Gene.
That's all I have for now, gotta get back to work
