This is not a serious question but lets assume a company wants to turn your story into a show or movie but they will end up adapting it terribly and is hated by everyone.you'll be paid weekly or monthly. What price would you allow them to ruin your story for. Or is your work more valuable than cash to you
No, I will not let them adapt my comic if it is done horribly
Absolutely not. You could not pay me enough to destroy my own properties. They hold much more value to me if they have not been adapted poorly, that kind of stuff can impact the wider perception of the property. You could be doing yourself, your productivity, and your marketability a huge disservice. In my opinion, a stellar book with no adaptation is more respected than a stellar book with a laughable movie....because most people are exposed to movies before books.
Worse than minimum wage in the US?
1000 euro is about 1/3 of the minimum wage in my country
If they paid me some decent amount I'd gladly create a story for them, but they can't have the current one. I've spent too much time and effort trying to make it good.
Lol I accidentally sent this unfinished and quickly edited it
Absolutely not, unless I'm starving and there is no other option to make money.
I may choose that over cannibalism, but that's about it
Depends, honestly. Is it good enough for people to be interested in the source material? Then yes. If it's hot garbage, then thanks but no thanks.
For how long will I receive the 1k? And I didn't understand if it's a week or a month.
LOL Nice country! Where are you from?
1k it's almost the double of the minimum wage in my country xD
Absolutely NOT.
I need money, but I don’t need it that badly.
K I edited the message againReas it again
Hahaha, how many months exactly? With 1k euros a month me can live comfortably, pay off debt, and get started producing other stories.
I realised how poorly I thought this question throughWhen people buy the rights from you they pay you once and don't need to give you anything for adaptations
Anyway lets say 6 months
depends on how much they pay
Switzerland <- spent like 5 minutes looking for the bank emoji.
Only a few cantons/states have an "official" minimum wage; the rest is regulated by unions and other types of agreements, but it is around 3000 euros on average. It sounds like a lot, but it's still minimum wage. It's a nice place, just expensive D:
I mean, the original will always exist and the adaptation might bring some new fans, so yeah, if they pay me enough they can do a shitty job, as long they don't force me to say any good things about it and I can shit on the adaptation later on twitter LOL
ahem
I do not care how much money they pay me, I will not allow my work to be ruined.
Hell I could just make the d#mn thing myself and make money off of it.
I ain't so mad anymore. Let 'em do what they want, I'll take the pay and do some proper investments and get my story a much better adaptation later. I'm all the more down with the idea if it turns out hilariously bad
Seconding @Conrad_Os !
But I would like to ask for a lot of money upfront, at least a cool million (and possibly additional royalties). Then there's no question that the book(s)/comic was waaaay better and have people flock to my originals.
