Would you let a company adapt your story badly if they paid you

Really depends. If they pay me millions of dollars, I'd use that money to develop my own, better, projects in the future. I'm still passionate about my comic, but I have many ideas I'd love to see realized in the future, and that money would help greatly.

If they don't respect my desire / wish and made my story into a crap, then no. Because this will put my effort, dreams and story to shame. Imagine I have so many fans who loves my story and when they see my adapted , crappy story, I'll be embarrassed for life.

Depends alot on how bad it is. If the movie is good enough(or bad enough) to draw attention to the original work, then I would take the money and sulk about it but at least happy I have more eyes on my work (the money's nice too I really need it at the moment).

However if the changes and adaptations are outright garbage and offensive and makes the original look like garbage hell no just no, no matter how much money. Like adding a Big romantic subplot with my main character aged up to 16 at the start and focusing on getting a boy to like her that would take up so much screen time.(We need that romance to draw in the crowds) . I would never EVER agree to that. My story is my property and if to have an adaptation of it, they have to completely ruin it, then it would just be better as a whole to not even watch that and stick to the source material .
For instance, imagine if the Death Note anime hadn't existed and we just had the netflix movie as an adaptiation: people would hate DN, associating it to the movie! So in the end... no, I'd never give my story to make a butchered and cheap adaptation of it, just in exchange for money. Not even if they paid me a billion.

Hmmm not sure about that, depends on how bad the adaptation is. However.....if the cast were personally selected by me, maybe I will decide to be a sellout. Just so all the fantasies in my head, when I wrote the book, can come to life but....price in the millions, please.

I will only and could only accept DC Comics as a publisher since my series is an original expansion on the New Gods. (I would genuinely love for them to notice me omg.) But uh, if they wanted to mess it up like Suicide Squad: No, thank you lol!
