Would you read a black and white manga turned into a webcomic without coloring it?

Hello Webcomic Fans out there!!

Years ago I started my manga project, which will get a print version, too.
But to grow my audience i decided to turn it into a webcomic version.
Despite that coloring just would take so much more time, therefore
I decided not to do it or at least not for the moment.

So my question is, does this shrink my potential audience or are most people fine
with black and white only as long as the lineart and shading itself is really good?

I love black & white comic, I don´t know how it is in general, I´m no marketing expert.
Some of my favourite comics are in black & white, I´m a huge Will Eisner and Jordi Bernet fan

My personal bias is colored because even professional manga like Naruto and bleach... the fights get hard to understand sometimes. So colored makes it a lot easier

I see plenty of people doing black-and-white comics. I don't think there's any need to color it.

okay, i see and completely understand. Readability is very important.
if a reader can't understand what's happening, there's a high chance of
not continuing, i mean if it's not Naruto
I always try to keep the readability, but yes sometimes it's hard without
the use of color contrasts, some things just get a bit messy sometimes.

Most of the stuff I read is black and white so sure! It takes a lot of skill to use black and white and you do really well with adding depth using toning and inking.

i always just drew with pencil, pen and everything my whole life, before i got into digital art and color theory.
tbh colors are what is more difficult for me still

I love black and white personally and have done my comics that way for years.

I do think there's a segment out there that prefers color - which is fine! - and I've wondered how much that's held back my comic, too. (I don't currently have an answer to that question, haha.)

I plan to do a color-version in the future but I just can't spare the time or dime to do it, right now.

Personally, I would kinda lean towards IF you can wrangle doing a color version, it probably wouldn't hurt and might even help, but I don't think you outright have to.

Plus, you're doing grayscale - and the pages look clean! - so I wouldn't worry much about it. A color-version in the future would be cool - and a good way to double-dip on the same content! - but getting the thing out there for people to enjoy should be the main focus, right now.

In my opinion, good degrees in difference in gray can make up for lacking in color. If it were literally just pitch black or pure white, it would likely reduce my interest unless the story and art were really REALLY good.
With that said, I think you're doing exactly what I would expect with the variations in gray. It feels like about five different distinct shades.
So, long answer to short questions, yes, I would read a comic with this kind of appearance

Cool, i'm glad to hear that! the shades are white, black and three different shades of screentones,
but i mix it with hatching.
