Would you read a comic with the art style of the drawing marked 2026 or only the perfect looking one?

I would not use AI to make a comic and then post it as a comic on Tapas or Webtoon but I'm just using this picture I found to give you an example of the kind of art I am talking about, there's nothing wrong with that.

i have read and still read comics where the art looks like the picture on the top or is some kind of rougher 'unpolished' style what would be the more determining factor is the content of the comic not just it's quality

the big thing to note is that an artstyle doesnt stay rough when an artist keeps practicing. i got to see it with my own comics and people i followed years ago up until now and witnessing that growth is also a part of the enjoyment. like there's works i've seen where the roughness is the point as it's meant to evoke raw feelings than some perfect image.

the point is you'd be better just to try even if it's 'messy' or 'doesn't look good' in your eyes at present because if you never do you dont give yourself the chance to grow and improve. or to share a post that wonderfully cut to the point

I've read comics that had some really great art, but I just couldn't enjoy them. Sometimes the premise just doesn't get my attention like I hoped it would, or I simply don't like the way the story progresses. And that's okay! Not everything is made for me, after all.
Whether the story (plot, dialogue, characters) interest me is the most important thing.
And you will improve all those things if you just keep practicing.
I really love to see other people's art improving.

If they got good story and pacing, I'd read it even if the arts aren't perfect. Unfortunately in these years a lot of webcomics (even the official series) have great to amazing arts but awful story and pacing I ended up avoiding much of them. I prefer to cut my loses and dropped them when I think it couldn't be saved and making me have an Awful mood with the time I wasted on it.

One big mangakas you might know is probably ONE, the author of one punch man/mob psycho who didn't really have amazing arts in his early days but still manage to charm people with his story, so having bad arts wasn't really an indicator that a story is bad.

It´s perfect when it fits to the story and transports mood, feeling, expression.

The one you call perfect maybe sucks when you see it on a page and the one
you think isn´t perfect maybe works great on a page. We would only know
that if we see the page.

I read a lot of traditional drawn comics where artists use techniques like the
dry brush technique. I would read a comic made with potato stamps when
it transports emotion and when I like the compostion.

When nobody cares about perfect art, they will train AIs to draw as bad as humans, so, pretty much human art is doomed forever

One of my favorite stories is a manga/ anime called Mob Psycho, the artwork isn’t the best but the storytelling is a 10/10 for me.
As long as I’m invested in the world building, characters , then the art style doesn’t matter to me.
