I just want a medium to express myself. TV, movies -- that sounded so flashy to me as a kid. I actually even applied to a couple of film schools. The more I got into the process -- lighting, pacing, color -- the more I realized it just wasn't for me. I've written scripts -- I HATE WRITING SCRIPTS-- and I realized that what I wanted to express had budget limits and was susceptible to the opinions of my team.
So I left, I walked away from that career path and I;just watched people I loved until I had a significant life change and picked up a pen again. I just want to be creative and world-build. Right now it's YA novels and little mini comics. For me, I realized for me to learn, I need to make a lot of horrible things to make 1 good genes. It took me 13 short stories to get one idea that would make a good novel. I know I'll have to make a couple mini comics before I get to a successful comic. That's ok, I can put in the work.
I think if you write a comic with the idea of making it a movie, you'll be so focused on that big goal, that you'll never understand the hard work needed to make a successful comic.
