Hey all!

I've been planning a comic series for at least 3 years. It would be a pretty big series which would probably take a year of work and I would really love a artist to at least to create the first chapter with me. If it doesn't become popular by then I can accept that it's not going anywhere but um yeah it would be nice if we could have a real attempt at it.
So here is the synopsis

General overview
Kegare is about a Japanese girl called Satsuki who as a child was abandoned at a Shinto temple. She was raised by the head monk and his wife along with their daughter who became Satsuki’s best friend, Mio. They were brought up with a few other children to become Shinto exorcists and protect the area from ghosts and monsters, better known as yokai in Japan. Satsuki grew up happy with her best friend Mio and when they graduated high school they became full time exorcists for the temple. Everything was going great until they became too relaxed with their missions and on one mission one of the yokai killed Mio.
Satsuki in shock, ran for her life. She kept running in shame, too scared to go back to the temple and explain to the family that raised her that she had let Mio, their only daughter, to be slaughtered. Feeling as if it was all her fault, and that she should have been the one who protected Mio, she ran as far away as she could. She left Japan in shock but it was only then when the boat that left to China did she see what would keep her running for years to come, Mio's warped ghost.
During her adventures she visits many countries including China, Africa, England, Scotland, Ireland America, Australia, India, the Middle East, Philippines, Russia, Malaysia, Brazil and Peru. It seems no matter where she goes she finds monsters from different cultures and no matter how much she runs her friend's ghost follows her. She makes friends, learns about different supernatural creatures, about different styles of exorcism and finally how to cope with Mio’s death and how to put her ghost to rest.

The story plan
I have a general plan for the first three countries that Satsuki visits and an idea of what monsters she could come across in the other countries. This is all that has been planned since there was a plan for about 5-10 issues to be written in each country. There is a lot of time before the other stories are to be set but I left the ideas as flexible in case someone else had some ideas they would like to be seen within the story.

Here is part of the first issue/chapter to get a feel of my writing:
'The phone rumbled and slowly a ghastly hand came out from the screen. It dug its dirty nails into the wooden floor of the classroom and then pulled, bringing the rest of the body along with it.
The students who had been frozen with shock staring at the phone and the unbelievable scene before them, suddenly seemed to come back to their senses as one of their numbers ran for the door. Girls and boys alike screamed as they ran for the door. The door had shut somehow though and no matter how much they pulled the handle or banged on the old wood, they were not going to get out. The place was sealed and they were stuck with the creature that they had called forth. Crying, screaming and praying the students clawed and hit the door trying to escape the fate they had never believed was possible.
Satsuki sighed, she had been hoping to stop this from happening. Taking a few steps she stood between the yokai and the students with her ofuda, her sacred paper talismans, now in her hands.
The creature had clawed its way out of the phone showing its true form, a torso of a man. A patchwork piece of a monster that stared with its stolen eyes at the students who were trembling in fear. It was here to collect. The students as if they could sense what the creature wanted, quickly pushed forth Haruhi in front of them. As a guard or as a sacrifice, no one entirely knew. All they knew was if they were going to get out of this alive, she was the one who had to pay the debt.
Satsuki looked from the Answer Man to the students behind her, “Stop that!” She yelled angrily as she saw the students give up Haruhi without a second thought. “You all started this. Now just stay still and stop acting like idiots.” She knew that she should have expected this from the likes of teenagers but she couldn’t condone it. Turning to the yokai before her she saw that it had already started its slow crawl towards the helpless huddle. '

I mean sure I like money because it helps me to buy food lol but this is just me trying to create something big, my master piece you could say. I just want to create something that I love and I haven't heard of being done before .

That is an awful lot to ask for if you aren't going to pay. Art is very hard work and you clearly have your own ideas for the direction of the story. If this is your passion project, you should try to do the art yourself! It may be hard to do at first but you'll have better control over the presentation of your story and it will be much more rewarding.

That is a tremendous commitment to ask of an artist with no promise of payment.

My usual analogy for drawing someone else's story is that it feels like babysitting someone else's child. Sure, it can be fun and you might even really care about the kid... but at the end of the day it's not your kid. I'd watch a friend's kid for free for an afternoon here and there, but you're basically asking a stranger to become your full time live in nanny for free.

Can write
Can't draw
Can't pay artist

= Write a novel.
Or learn to draw, or talk to a reaaaally close friend who can draw and see if they have free time that they are willing to spare. But pitching a years long project with a random stranger for no pay is like.. that idea's got a snowflake's chance in hell. Sorry, buddy.

I guess I was just thinking if it became popular and we were earning money after a chapter or two we could continue it but if not, leave it there.
I totally get where everyone is going though, artists do an amazing amount of work and I understand that. It was a far shot but I had to give it a go stuck_out_tongue

Not to be a debbie downer or anything, but unless you find a super popular artist who'd be willing to work with you on the project - there's no guarantee that you'll make money in the first few months or chapters of a comic. Maybe pennies at most with ad revenue on. Comics take years to be 'successful' even moreso to actually generate profit if you're starting from zero. So it's still a huge gamble for an artist to take on when it's time they could've spent working on their own projects.

regardless, good luck?? at least you're being a good sport about it.
