As I was writing my novel, The Fatalistic Machine, I sometimes found myself stuck in a rut. Because of my writing style, go-with-the-flow, if a character finds themselves thinking in circles, that's all I've got! In order to break out of that, I found myself a logical fallacy generator, produced by Chaotic Shiny. That group has SO MANY generators! It's amazing & a great place to find all kinds of randomized generators about everything from world building to character making to plot points.
For me, the logical fallacy generator really worked the best. The nature of Fatalistic is stream of consciousness & once you know exactly who we're dealing with, you'll understand the penchant for logical fallacies. Based in our modern world, the main characters deal with the 'many worlds' theory in action & it really messes with their minds. Especially Ayr's.
Have you ever used a random plot generator, character generator, or anything like that to help get out of writer's block? Based a whole novel on a randomly generated setting? What else do you do to stimulate your creativity during a block?
