How I write: I start at the beginning, or the middle or the end, & keep going until it's finished. I don't have plot points or chapter titles prewritten- I let stories tell themselves.
How I edit: I often reread as I write & make changes as I go. When I'm done with a story, I go the beginning and read through it. I then check for -ly' words (like 'really' 'definitely', etc) and delete them wherever possible. During this reading I'm also on the lookout for overused terms. After all of that, I listen to the story with a text-to-speech tool to catch pieces that don't sound right.
How I draw: I don't. Sadly, this is NOT a strong point of mine. At all. Even a little. My stick figures have all been hospitalized due to inherent malformations of their bodily structures.

Ohmigawd, you're speaking my language, lol.
If I become famous I'll work with a site like Fanfiction.net, or AO3 or something, to create a new category for works that are allowed to be 'tipped' by readers. Personally, I'm a big fan of fanfiction and fan art & I'd like to let fans of my work have a little compensation, with the goal being they…
Have you found, or written, any poems that describe your story or inspired it somehow? I've found a couple poems that really speak to the core of The Fatalistic Machine & are quoted by Ayr (the m.c.) while descending into the deeper depths of insanity; or so she thinks. The first is from Emily …
Good riddance to it. She had no fond memories of that last life. It could go up in flames for all she cared.
That's interesting & very in depth! I do like to re-read old books, though not usually in a whole other format! Even just re-reading something like Harry Potter, in it's 'original form', can bring to light so many little details that you missed before... I was always the kid who noticed misspellings…
Perusing the novels here makes me think about how we should be editing for quality & wondering what makes our work 'quality' in the first place. How do you edit? What are you looking for when you re-read your writing before posting? Here's what I do: Spellcheck & Grammar Check (I use LibreOff…
I've gotta start reading the novels here on the site; there's just so many that I don't even know where to begin! I guess I'll start going through the ones here as I have time, lol. Always looking for a new story to be absorbed with. Well, for anyone interested in adding another 'to check out' nov…
This should be considered continually open if anyone is interested in participating (even if the topic is closed). I've got several side-shot ideas for my novel here on Tapas that would be best served in the webcomic format. Sadly, my drawing skillz are nil. Because of that, I'd need the help of a…
Art is not my strong point, so I novel instead, lol. The whole premise is cracked & if you're into stream of consciousness (inherently psychological & not always linear) you might like it. MC older teen (girl & boy) with secrets so deep they don't even know they're hiding anything. Many-worlds t…
Fortunately, I'm one of those people who doesn't need a whole lot of sleep to function properly, lol. Fours hours or so and I'm good to go (as long as I'm not about to do something labor intensive). And yeah, it is hard to fall asleep with stories running through my mind; I do keep a notebook bedsid…
My biggest regret (not really disappointment) with anything I've ever written & gone on to post somewhere, is not waiting until I'd finished the whole thing before posting. I'm dealing with that issue right now regarding several fanfictions. I want to get the story out into the world & I know that…
As a kid I had a hard time falling asleep; I would lay awake for hours. During those hours I'd tell myself stories to pass the time, so I guess that's where it all began! I do remember coming across fanfiction at one point, in middle school I think, & it inspired me to do a Halloween writing assignm…
As I was writing my novel, The Fatalistic Machine, I sometimes found myself stuck in a rut. Because of my writing style, go-with-the-flow, if a character finds themselves thinking in circles, that's all I've got! In order to break out of that, I found myself a logical fallacy generator, produced by …
Here are the last three paragraphs from the last published chapter of The Fatalistic Machine! The novel is finished & I'm editing before posting each episode, so I went ahead & put up a sizable 'start-up' chunk & will be metering out further releases from here. For context, Ayr once again finds he…
“Gross,” she muttered, pushing his head out of the puddle lest he drown. What a way to die that would be. Breathed in blood.
Set in our modern timeline, taking place across various dimensions once parallel (& mostly unexplained), Ayr Smythe lives her second life on the edge of insanity. Eventually, the truth of her life will be revealed, though only after she dies again. And again. And again. It's listed under 'fantas…
As a very recent new member of the Tapas creator community, I can't tell you how glad I am to see that creators aren't treated like they don't matter. I've been on so many other similar websites & have always felt that the staff largely ignored creators & often made changes with no notice, even swee…
