A year ago, one of my friends and partners in this project got an artist for the comic we're working on, but their weakness just so happens to be background and scenery stuff. We really like working with them and we're paying them as well. They requested for us to get an artist to do backgrounds while they do everything else. They offered a pay cut (which their original payment wasn't too high) so whoever gets this gig will receive 50/50 with the other artist.

We have characters designed, a story developed, and a bunch more already for this. This project is also being produced by members of a youtube channel called PolyCore Media. We're a gaming channel but have spoken about this comic before.

This is a very long-term project where we're hoping for a partnership down the line. If you're down for that (and wouldn't even mind making some other concept art of the project on the side), let me know!

Here's more info on the comic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=N11hNVSTFDc&t=36s27

How much do you pay per background panel? or is this hourly based?

What kind of backgrounds will you need? Is it nature such as flora and fauna, landscapes, or architectural backgrounds?

I can make sketchup models. Is that fine or do you want proper illustrations?

The artist agreed with 20 per page since we got them during peak Covid and it's a long-term project. Because the artist offered a pay cut, it would be 10 going to the background artist. She has already drawn a few of the pages so far with her own background design. We might be able to redo those panels.

how many background panels per page?
Also I can help elaborate the difference between proper illustrations and sketchup models.
Most manhwa uses 3D models, often made with sketchup. They have a 3D model, adjust the angle to fit whatever panel, and export the view as an image.
Example, see the background:

However proper illustrations are fully drawn.

I would like to know if my style fits into the style of the principal artist or if I would have to adapt, the payment, the dates to know the time I would have to make the background, how many backgrounds, the level of complexity, to know if I should use a specific program or if i can use clipstudiopaint , if it is in color or in black and white ...

As writers, we set the panels up with background information when needed, but she sometimes changes the panel numbers so it's kind of hard for me to answer that question. Thank you for the explanation! I shall provide her with these images and then I'll reply back.

I shall post a couple of pages from the comic.

I didn't see too much background artwork from the link you posted. The payment would be 10 per page since the artist is splitting her money up (her's was 20). Since this is a very long-term project, we do plan on increasing pay as we (the youtube channel) gets bigger as well. The dates is completely up in the air. We would like to get stuff rolling out within 2022. It's in color and she said clipstudiopaint is fine. If you do not think that the art style she works with fits, then we won't force you to adapt, but we would like to keep this similar style.

Since there are 4 of us writing (3 of the 4 are paying the artist, but only 2 of us are employed atm) I would have to check with the others if they're okay with changing the 20 to 50 (this would include her 10 and your 40). That is a bit steep for us. Do you have another example of the $15 one?
