So uh. I was looking at an old chapter that I wanted to add another segment to (for better or for worse, it's the only place a certain piece of exposition would make sense), AND I REALIZED A THIRD OF THE CHAPTER IS JUST... GONE???

Yeah, so, apparently the chapter was never properly uploaded, and a chunk of it was just missing for more or less a year. The weirdest part is that the way it was cut off, it looked like it was SUPPOSED to be that way, hence why nobody pointed it out.

So! Has anybody else had something like that happen to them? I'd love to hear all y'all's horror stories!

Yikes! I haven't had that happen.

I forgot to upload a page to one of my mirrors once, missed out on that for several months. But on Tapas itself, I've only had the occasional issue where I forget to tell it to upload in Pacific time, or I have it set for 9 PM instead of 9 AM, that sort of thing. It's never lasted more than a day, though.

Do you have an editor to check your work every so often?

Oh nothing so dramatic has ever happened to me, but now-a-days I obsessively check that kind of stuff since my coworkers do point out each and every flaw in my work at work when I can't do anything about it. Fun stuff.
That and I'm an egotist who reads my own comics multiple times hah
That's so tragic for you though;; I can't even imagine, man.

oh no sorry to hear, It never happened yet thankfully. TG these Tapas episodes editable and you may be able to sneak it back in

Not the exact thing but a couple episodes later, I ended up changing the relationship of a character to tighten the greater plot "now officially the protags' baby brother". (For context the protagonists are two brothers)
It felt like a challenging thing to do at the time -the lil kid, Neon went from being one of the protagonists' son, to the antagonists' son, to finally being the protagonists' little brother.
Having Neon be the little brother gives better focus on the two protagonists and their parents, and feels less cluttered without having to add unnecessary characters.

The other worry was that I had already showed their home in episode 3 with a 'shot of family photos' . But thanks to us being able to update episodes  I ended up sneaking a new photo of Neon into the family wall. It also worked well in the end because I was getting closer to the episode where Neon would be properly introduced.

And to not confuse old readers, I just made a special episode explaining the change that i made and also included snippets from previous episodes that updated as a result

Guess you were a lil lucky too as you said the cut off appeared as if supposed to b that way lol
Hopefully you find a way to indicate to your readers it was missing.
Maybe with a special episode telling them about the changes if you decide to?

Overall Tapas allowing us to edit our posted episodes = a rescue from horror stories lol

I've never done that, but I've accidentally sent submissions of poetry or prose where the got spread weirdly throughout the document somehow or where two got sandwiches together and I didn't realize until after the fact. that's pretty horrible

I once realized that in my file for one of my early pages it was missing the last panel, but it was too late and my internet was blocked so I couldn’t go check tapas to make sure it was there. It haunted me the entire night. When I checked the next day, luckily the tapas version was fine. It was only the version that I had recently posted on Deviantart that had a problem so no harm done.

Ouch, no. I mainly upload my pages manually the moment I have it ready instead of setting the time of when it should be published. Never know an error like this will happen.

I think I was lucky that in just a few pages, some content creators in Tapas informed me on how the size of the pages should be for readers using both app on and PC so they can read it properly. A scroll page, not my preferred page but it will do.
