Your favorite backgrounds in webcomics

I want to compile a list of webcomics with great backgrounds that I will definitely read later
~~and not collect dust on my TBR list~~

I will start--
Marionetta on webtoon inspired this thread.

The bgs in ep 24 are just so good! It's lively and warm and grand yet simple
It makes me want to see more backgrounds

And for Tapas, Unfamiliar is pretty good in a different way.
The settings have their own personality that I find really charming

My fav little detail is the cattails have cat faces lol

Valentine by Seni-Arseni has some of the most breathtaking backgrounds I've ever seen in a comic. I pride myself in the detail I put into my backgrounds, but this artist is on a whole different level. And Tapas forces you to reduce the resolution of images before updating them. If these look this good at 940 pixels wide I can only imagine how they look as drawn.

Just looked through a few pages
The backgrounds integrate the 3d elements well
And the crowd shot from one of the newer episodes is really detailed!

I recognize some of these from the forums haha
They each have their own unique way of rendering bgs
It's good to see so much variety!

A somewhat background focused comic. The background is kinda semi-realistic - anime style, nice to look at.

I clicked on that Firelight one and I was just like
Starting right off with multiple city shots oh bby
And crowds!

The first one just reminded me it's been forever since I read a non-webtoon comic.
The Steam Dragon Express has a cute style too with the air ship design

But The Firelight Isle!
Man I love cities
