Your OCs Arts Collections

... because what is gives more motivation to continue your story than going through arts of your characters done by other artists? c; (okay, not counting interaction with readers, okay?)

Do you collect arts of your OCs? How big is your collection? Do people prefer drawing one of your characters more than others? And of course, show us your favourite art in your collection! (or more, if you cannot decide on only one, but not too much, please cx)

As for me, I love getting arts of my OCs. Currently I have over 200 arts of my OCs (around 80 of characters from my current project) done by other artists- gifts from my friends, commissions, freebies, prizes or contest entries c: It's not only very motivating for me to keep drawing, but also reminds me of people I met on various social sites c:

I use to play a lot of Animal Crossing. My human characters in the game ended up being my OCs, and I used to have a blog with all my comics/illustration/stories about them. Sometimes people would draw fanart, or art trades, or commissions. It was fun while it lasted. Here are some highlights (in this case my OC is the boy):

I've gotten a few fanarts for DANIEL, mostly of Daniel himself of course...in fact, I've only had one artist draw some of the other characters. These aren't all of them since I don't want to be too spammy, but I put them all on my main site and I'm DYING for more. hinthint nudgenudge

I get a lot of art of my OC's Lucy Mays (Grim Reaper) and Mel (Succubus) from my series
Soul Ascendance which is currently only 4 pages in right now (prologue) because I'm busy with all the writing but I should be starting up chapter one soon enough.

Lucy and Mel are my two most popular but Mel seems to come in as number one, just by the looks of Lucy you can tell she keeps a lot to herself but Mel on the other hand is the perfect example of don't judge a book by it's cover.

Here's some of my favorite art I received of my two lovely ladies.

I can't remember the name of this artist at the top of my head but I think I may have put her name in the description of the picture on my Facebook. I really love this one because the style is vary cute and she drew them cosplaying as Foxy and Bonnie from Five Nights At Freddy's on Halloween. And a lot of my subscribers on my Youtube and DeviantArt know that I love that game.

For Lucy this has to be my number one favorite because I always wondered what Lucy would look like if she was real and Snoozster really did her justice and the texture on the scythe is just... oh my God I wanted to cry! And I'm happy that she didn't forget to make Lucy's hands skeletal because a LOT of artists seems to miss that.

This one I got from KevinTheCrushinator in an art trade, he's an artist I talk to on DeviantArt. We give each other some good advice on drawing and even have shared some of our artistic secrets to help improve our art. He's really good at drawing the female anatomy which helped me improve drastically even when I thought I was good before.

This piece here was drawn by Beth I think her style is vary interesting! It feels like a mix between western cartoons and anime. It has to be my favorite art I received of Mel thus far I just love the friendly feel it has which suits Mel's personality.

I can't remember the name of this artist either ;v; God, I suck at names! I love how she drew Mel with a creepy broken baby doll and I don't know why but I really like how she draws feet!

Hope I didn't post too many pictures ;v; I have about 72 pictures of my characters (not just these two) drawn by other people, a good chunk of them are from Gaia when I used to go there.

What a fun topic! ^^ Getting fanarts is one of the best moments you can have as a comic drawer. I usually get them about my protagonists, or couples. (And once I got a doujinshi! <3) I love all of them, but if I must choose, maybe I would choose these, as my favs...

I'm reluctant to commission pictures of my characters. I don't want people to draw my babies for money. I would gladly pay money if I could somehow get a guarantee that the picture would be born of genuine interest in the characters. For that reason I MAY look into commissioning artists who are already readers of my comic... when I have the funds. ^^;

Needless to say, I LOVE getting unexpected fanarts. They are proof that someone other than you cares enough about your story; that not everyone forgets about your story the moment they finish reading the update. I haven't received many yet (I suspect my character designs being boring might have something to do with it), but the ones I got, I absolutely love. Check them out here on the artist's tumblr! (In case anyone's wondering... no, my comic isn't BL. But I don't mind people shipping my characters at all!)

I don't really have much art of my OCs,, mostly because I don't come up with a lot of them. The only ones I really have are the main characters in [Insert Epic Title Here] and another series I need to start at some point....

It really is great to see other peoples' art of your characters, isn't it?
And while it's nice to have a commission done, it really is so much better when someone just makes a gift of it and surprises you.

Ahh I agree with you here, getting those genuine fanarts is the best (though I think I got only one like this for my comic...? Mostly got freebies because someone liked the design of character cx ). Though I have a lot of OCs that do not have their own comic and it's mostly for them that I buy arts c: actually, OCs from my current story also were like that- I started drawing it about 7 years ago, got some arts, but then dropped the story after about 4 pages? (and 2 notebooks of planning : P ). Only about 2 years ago I've found that old arts and told myself that I love those babies too much and the story has to be finished! CX

And those sketches are so pretty! ; u; to be honest, I'd have thought that you have a lot of fanarts, as your comic is really amazing and characters have some really nice designs~
