TBH when people say the word "dog whistling," I get the hell out of there. Agreed. I doubt this will be a very popular opinion around these parts, but discussion on the internet has become so hyper-partisan and emotional lately that good faith discussion/debate has become increasingly difficult…

I can't speak with authority on the subject since my comic is still in the conceptual stage, but as a full-time worker, I've had to make peace with the fact that progress in any creative endeavors will be... slow and steady. All I can say for sure, is allocate your time carefully so there's not t…

Take this with a grain of salt OP because I'm definitely projecting a bit here, but based on my extremely limited knowledge of you as a poster, and your attachment/high expectations for your project - I think you just put a LOT of pressure on yourself, and subsequently freeze a bit under that pressu…

Demons, Trauma, and Plaid Skirts Still In Pre-Production, Kinda Depressing Also Oof, I Feel This

Aaa, I love BoF3! Just that one screenshot hits me with so much nostalgia. I remember painstakingly transforming into every dragon combo and then trying to draw them when I was a little kid.

"Perfect is the enemy of good." -Voltaire Really though, I know exactly how you feel! Perfectionism is this vicious cycle for me, where the longer I fuss over something the greater my expectations for the finished product become, which further increases my self-doubt, making me want to scrap the …

I'm in this post and I feel attacked. :joy: Okay, simping is an exaggeration in my case, but it's not hard to get me to take a liking to a villain, antihero, antivillain, etc. The easiest way to lose me, actually, is by trotting out the maudlin, tragic backstory or otherwise trying to woobiefy them in …

I'm cracking up at the invasion of the metalheads happening here. I've always been a shameless grunge fan but my boyfriend's big into metal, so I've been making an effort to diversify my taste. ... Helloween's my favorite so far. :jack_o_lantern:

Your style is incredibly charming! I love it.

Re: twitter politics, absolutely ignore it. Don't feel guilty about doing so. Twitter politics are cancer and directly encourage negativity and divisiveness/polarization. Never feel bad about refusing to feed into a toxic system.

After struggling with writer's block for MONTHS when I hadn't even gotten past the basic premise, something just... clicked into place, and the ideas have been flowing. I'm so thrilled (and relieved) to be making serious progress towards starting a project.

Kentaro Miura and Norihiro Yagi are responsible for my lifelong obsession with fantasy, particularly dark fantasy. I adore their work and always will; the sheer craft and detail that goes into each and every character, environment, creature design blows my mind. [image] [image] [image] [ima…

high-pitched keening noise I love this Rocky, oh my gosh.

Of course I don't mind! That's very flattering. To everyone else, sorry about slowing down on the requests! When I do get time for hobby stuff, inktober is kicking my ass lately. I'll try and get back on this soon.

Ooh, I just started mine the other day: https://www.instagram.com/cheylinski/ I'm pretty new to social media in general, so I'm starting from scratch. Definitely going to follow the other creators here!

Whew. I almost didn't finish one today. [image]

I just wanted to say thank you to everyone who replied; it was great to read your thoughts, and you've given me a lot to think about, with regards to the pressure I put on myself and front-loading the writing of a project.

I want this preserved as-is, before I try to draw Teresa's weird hip-armor and inevitably mess it up  [image]

Oh man, thank you! (。•́‿•̀。)

Creators of tapas, how often do you deal with writer's block? When it hits, how do you overcome it? For me, I find myself struggling with it - among other doubts - before I've even begun a project. I have have a ton of premises and characters that I like, but it feels like I slam into a wall when …

Oh yeah. It's definitely my favorite in the series. In fact, my writer's block has been so bad lately I've been thinking of just doing a fancomic for my first project.

A quick sporty girl  [image]

I'll add to the chorus and agree that it's good you got out out of there before it got too bad, and it's great that you even went at all. My sympathies to you and anyone else here struggling with anxiety. I'm a bit on the opposite of many people here: I'm okay in-person, but online, I'll repeated…

Here's another character- this one belonging to @kaetana! [image] I like the look of the whole crew, but I dig this lady in particular. Edit: Eep, looking at it now, my colors ended up a bit off-target. Sorry about that!

Another day, another request; this time Faradin, belonging to @cleo_san. (And yes, I adore this design! Great costuming.) [image] Btw, if anyone is interested, I made a twitter the other day - https://twitter.com/cheylinski - where I'll be posting art like this as well as future personal art, w…

It's a bit nerve-wracking drawing others' characters, but a huge relief when they like it. This is my first time putting art out to the internet instead of just showing friends & family. @cleo_san, thank you for the feedback! I appreciate you taking the time out to write it. I'll definitely check…

Thanks for all the replies, everyone! This evening I was able to settle in and do a quick drawing of @DualDragons Cate! :kissing_closed_eyes: [image] I'll try and finish at least one a day going forward, too. Btw, critique and tips are very welcome! I'm still quite new to digital art and eager to learn more.

I'm in the midst of an on-going quest to not suck at digital art and find an appealing style for a potential future project. You can help me by - you guessed it - posting an OC (of a fantasy genre) you wouldn't mind getting fanart for! Cheers, everyone.
