I'm Dani, I'm British, and I spend most of my time writing about LGBT characters kissing, or wanting to kiss. It's the best job ever, and I love it.

I'm very grateful and thankful for all my readers' support, and shares and reads and tips - you make it possible for me to keep on doing what I love. xxx

It does happen, some readers are extremely generous... My tipping was active before my novel went premium, though, so in terms of getting it activiated I'm not sure how that works. Definitely contact the staff, if you can't do it yourself - because the Publisher and Dashboard tabs have different opt…

My novel The Boy Princess has a transgender character. Also thanks for asking this question, you've had some great recs and I am totally stealing them all.

I guess this depends on how you define 'success'? Lots of subscribers? Regular tips? Comments? The success of your novel isn't just dependent on how 'good' your writing is - it has to be what people using the Tapas App are looking to read, which, like traditional publishing, isn't an exact science…

Beth Reekles (author of the soon-to-be-a-Netflix-movie Wattpad novel The Kissing Booth) runs a blog where she discusses publishing novels online, and a lot of the posts about building an audience, and how often to update and so on, are really useful. Just thought I'd share, as I feel her blogs have …

Yes, my novel The Boy Princess was picked for the Snack, and honestly I was overwhelmed by the love and the response - I checked my notifications and nearly fell over. But yes, it seems like the playing field is levelling out nicely, and it's going to be so much easier to find new authors and storie…

There's now a 'New and Noteworthy' section on the app for books, all of which are non-premium novels, which is nice - interestingly, they're not the same books as in the Staff Picks on the desktop site. I also noticed a non-premium book in the Daily Snack, yesterday, so it looks like things are movi…

I may do, if I can allocate enough time to be able to read and review others' work properly - I don't want to do half a job of it!

This is a great idea! Read-and-review exchanges would be a lovely way to start.

It would be really nice to see the Staff Picks, and / or Trending novels on the app. I'm a reader as well as a creator, and I do think there are a lot of lovely novels on the platform that deserve more attention than they're getting. I tweet about them when I can, and rec to Tumblr, but there does n…

Yes, it does seem that the app would need a re-design, as currently the non-premium novels are virtually undiscoverable. I guess if you have an existing fanbase this it's the end of the world, but it would be nice to be able to be found by new readers.

This is wonderfully put, thank you. I agree that it's very much like a 'fifth page of Google' situation - I've brought most of my readers with me from another site, and although I've hit the Staff Picks, and my novel is the highest-ranked non-premium novel in 'Romance', no one new is going to find i…

I'm thinking specifically of the app, here. Where the premium novels get large banners and features (and crop up in the Daily Snack), there's no section on the 'front page' of the app for novels that aren't part of the featured division. Whereas comics have the 'new and noteworthy' section, so new…

Both of my novels on Tapas are LGBT - one a gay romance, the other a transgender romance! I'm so happy with all the lovely support they've had so far. Thanks for this thread, there are some great comics to check out!

Not a comic, but my novel A Dance of Love & Death has Death as a POV character, but they are quite clear that there is (in their universe) no gods or angels or suchlike. Thanks for starting this thread, it's full of great recs.

Thank you so much for replying, that's really great to know!

I'm just wondering if there will be an update to the Staff Picks page for novels, now there's the option to publish freely on the platform? And will novels that aren't part of the Premium programme be eligible for the Daily Snack? Thank you so much! My work on Tapas: The Boy Princess A …

[image] Hi, I'm Dani, and I write LGBT fiction on the Novel platform - I'm a professional writer in my day job, and I'm loving the chance to try out this serialised fiction option! A Dance of Love and Death is a YA novel about a ballet dancing boy who falls in love with Death. It deals with is…

I've mentioned this on twitter (@Dani_Olivers1), that, for me, what's lacking at the moment is a promising blurb, for many series (there are some doing this brilliantly, of course, this is a super-general observation). The grammar and syntax used in the blurbs are often reflective of the style of th…

I wonder this, too! It'd be great to find new authors to read.

Thank you so much! I think, just imo, that somewhere like this is a great platform, especially, as it doesn't necessarily require a contribution of money to read, which can be a factor for queer kids who don't have disposable income, or if their outgoings are monitored. Thanks for your message and…

Hi guys! I'm Dani, and I just (well, on the 18th) started using the Novel Publishing platform to launch two LGBT novels for Young Adults! I'm using this platform for original work, after getting established on AO3 as a fanfic writer. When I'm not writing or reading, I like pineapples, scrapbookin…
