amwritingfantasy or your preferred genre helps to!

Which that makes sense because they're providing a service to artists and writers. A platform on which to publish on. I think Patreon also takes a small cut on users earnings as well.

If anyone figures it out please let us know! Geeze! I want to add pictures to my novel so badly!

I can relate to that feeling.

I spent last night and this morning working on some new story graphics! I've not been happy with the ones I've been using on Wattpad for a while and decided that I needed a change. These are what I came up with! [image] [image] I definitely like these better. I can't wait to put them on Ins…

I'm mildly embarrassed to say that I've read stories like that in the past. Most of the time though, I caught them early when there were only a handful of chapters and I just kept going as it was uploaded. I think though, as a writer, that is definitely way too long! There is no reason that "boo…

Thanks! I appreciate it!

I love the watercolors on your cover!

It's possible. I guess that's the dream of all authors. Having enough story to post as you write so you never miss an update.

I write a lot of fantasy. Usually epic/high fantasy but I've also dabbled a bit with Science Fiction. Currently, I'm working on a story inspired by Dungeons and Dragons tropes complete with elves and magic and vicious beasts lurking in the woods.

I read the first few chapters of As the Crow Flies on Wattpad. I really enjoyed it. I need to get back into it. @SimplyHiraeth has like 30 chapters uploaded already and I'm mind boggled how they can update so quickly.

I've managed to write about 350 words today and over the course of the week, I've added about three inches to a crochet project!

That's so awesome! Congrats!

I'm not sure what Monster of the Week but the WTNV part is enough to catch my interest. I love how strange and casually weird WTNV is. Someone took a bunch of horror/creepypasta tropes and created a main character/setting where their all considered the norm. It's a bit like The Addams Family fo…

Lol, I agree. Publishers like making money. Safe bets are the best guarantee of that. I'm not entirely sure about the trendsetter being an outlier though. Maybe that's because I stop reading those trendy stories because I get so sick of them. :joy:

I think a lot of people can think of at least one or two mainstream media examples where the writers/producers have disparaged a particular people group because of lack of knowledge, research, and consideration. That is not something I want to be a part of.

I think that’s just bad plotting and characterization. Why do all female leads have to be unaware of their beauty and/or worth until the male romantic lead comes along. It’s frustrating because I think it tells the young, impressionable young people reading the story that all you need is a romanti…

I think everything goes in trends. In about another five years we might be complaining that YA is over saturated by superhero stories or something lol. I think a lot of authors see what people are reading and buying and decide to jump on that bandwagon. Or they just really enjoy those kind of storie…

I feel like I always chose the stories that have very similar plot lines that I've seen hundreds of times with very little variations. I remember for awhile YA was oversaturated with Vampire/Human romances. I didn't touch anything in YA with a ten foot pole because of it.

My favorite thing to do is dress up in costume and hand out candy to kids because I haven't been able to trick or treat for YEARS and bars aren't really my scene.

That is really a tricky aspect of fantasy, isn't it? I try to base a lot of my fantasy cultures and races on real culture. Kind of how certain shows will code characters as a specific race (such as Steven Universe and such). But I do a boatload of research so that I'm not going to offend anyone…

Never compare your work to others. At least that's what I try to live by. Everyone's at a different point in their writing journey. And you're the only one that can write your story.

Very true! I think my jaw dropped when I saw that I had tips in my jar. I’m definitely looking to grow more readership for my stories and make friends with people before worrying about convincing more people to tip.

I just got my first two tips yesterday and today. The last thing I want to do is get too excited/eager and come off as money grubbing. The linked article talks about rewards similar to the way of Patreon and its rewards. Those are great ideas but I honestly don't think anyone would be too seri…

Can't tell! It looks amazing!

But how successful has it been for other users? Has anyone here used it recently? Have you used a rewards system? I'm eager to know more about it from a writer's standpoint.

No problem! :+1: Glad that you found it!

I write fantasy but I'm not sure if my novel would be considered young adult OR new adult. However, it's definitely one of my favorite subgenres to read. Harry Potter was the most formative of YA stories for me but a more recent story I really enjoy is the Orphan Queen/Mirror King duology.

It's Michael Son. I believe I have their name spelled correctly.

The power of asking nicely is really strong around here. The admins are very responsive. Do you want me to message you the email? Or did you find it?
