Hello, I'm Stephen, author and illustrator of Justice Guardians.
I'm obsessed with cartoons, gaming and cake. I 'work' as a freelance illustrator/designer, graduated from the University of Lincoln in 2013, and have since moved back to my home town of Newark in Nottingham.

BRB, going to do this instead of the #SixFanarts challenge! Love what I'm seeing here!
[image] Adora was looking pretty lonely so decided to Draw a little Catra too!
[image] Heeey, Adora~ Have been wanting to draw some She-Ra stuff after binging on the show. So good.
I sell physical goods like comics and pins through etsy and I do sell downloadable pdf versions of my comic on gumroad with a pay what you want model, seeing as people can already read my comic for free here, I treat it like a tip jar. There's redbubble too which is great if you don't want to shel…
I use Design Doll by Terawell when I'm really struggling with poses. I find it's a bit awkward to use at times, and you can definitely tell when I've had to rely on it, but I'd rather that, than sacrifice a scene I've had in mind just because I couldn't work out a pose.
I have Redbubble, Etsy and Gumroad. Tried Kofi and Patreon but got no traction with either. I sell most on Etsy due to the fact I have an enamel pin that's doing unexpectedly well. I used to get a lot of sales through Redbubble because I did a lot of fan-art related stuff, but started feeling unea…
Some good food for thought here everyone, and some things I hadn't considered before like the fact a lot of people have 100+ comics they're already subscribed to. I don't remember if notifications pop up for when creators post a new series, but I imagine they can easily get lost if that's the case.
Hello all, I'm just after some quick opinions on this. My current ongoing series is reaching episode 220 and i'm just wondering if this is too much, especially for potential new readers who see the amount and think "NO THANK YOU". The comics are usually 32 pages long and are spread across 8 iss…
Honestly, since starting this thread, I've only sold a couple handfuls. The first issue sold relatively well at the convention I tabled at, but sadly no returning buyers for future issues. I think the best thing to do is make sure the demand is there for it. Gauge interest from your readers, maybe…
Crike... the last thing I drew that was non-comic related had to be Omelette.[image]
I wanted to, but don't think I'll get much of a chance between work and trying to keep on top of comics. Plus I was kind of irked off by the whole "You can't do it digitally" thing on twitter a while back... I get the clue is in the name, but for some folks, it's a lot more convenient to work digi…
I'll be going as a visitor as I didn't really get chance to visit the other stalls when I was tabling last year. Such an amazing event, and you really need the whole 2 days to get round everything.
I bought this book years ago to help me with onomatopoeic stuff. It's not too bad, other than you get some unnecessary repeats, i.e AAAAA AAAAAA AAAAAAA AAAAAAAHG If I can get my scanner working again, I'll have a go at scanning some of the more useful pages.
I think it'd be really cool to receive fan art, kind comments and such... More realistically, I'd loved to love to just sell a few more copies of my comics, as they're pretty much taking up valuable floor space.
My friend's take on one of my characters ^_^ [image]
I find that #ComicBookHour and #WebComicChat are pretty good ways to get promotion on Twitter. Helps to get your name out there, introduce your comic, talk about processes and the various topics they put forward. Being active and engaging with people is also a good way to get seen. Post regularly …
I find the colouring process extremely boring, I use the magic wand and polygon tool method which can be very time consuming, especially with fiddly bit of the line art. Also sound effects, when you can't quite put sounds into words. I have a lot of fun thinking about what I'm going to do with a p…
If physical copies are available, I usually try to buy those up because it's always nicer to have something right there in your hands, and it feels like value for money. I think the issue with selling digital copies whilst also having a free alternative (perhaps cynically), is that the vast majori…
Does anybody else here take on the #colour_collective challenge over on twitter? I've just got back into it and have started creating/using my characters to fit the theme each week. [image] [image] [image] [image]
Trying to promote my comic on twitter... -_-" Sadly comic book shops are non-existent in my town and wasn't able to venture out to check out some events in the city.
My first few chapters on my current series are just down right embarrassing, art-wise and just some key moments where I perhaps had a lapse of judgement. I've gone back and edited a few glaringly obvious mistakes, but if I get into the mindset, I'd be forever redoing bits. Funnily enough, I'm not …
I love that second cover so much.

I quite like how @PopteenPrincess just put it, if it's drawn well it can be attractive. I've seen comics and artworks depicting grim stuff, but drawn in such a way that there is an appreciation for it, and I'm sure the same can apply to characters. As far as my creating character process goes, I f…
It's either youtube or BBC Radio 2 for me depending on mood/if I'm awake. Love a bit of Ken Bruce in the morning :B OH almost forgot, Started getting into podcasts, so The Adventure Zone and Welcome to Nightvale when available.
Unfortunately yes... When I started out I whacked all 32 into one episode, not knowing how episodes worked haha. As I said, the workaround is to make a new series and just let people know they can find their preferred format there.
I think you'd have to bulk upload them, or edit the very first episode and upload the files onto that. I've seen people get around this by keeping the main series titled episodes, and a second series titled chapters. [image]
It's so interesting to see how things develop over the years, probably why I love concept art. Here's some then and now shots of some of my characters from 2013 and present day. [image] The main reason for the change in direction for me, was that my uni lecturers at the time had been watching …
I'm going to cheat ever so slightly and say this one (just go ahead and disregard everything in the background). Due to Tapastic not being DPS friendly, this "panel" sort of loses any impact it may have (slightly better in printed format, but the gutter, man...). [image]
I did some Deadendia fanart a while back and Hamish Steele reblogged it! That was a good feeling indeed!
