I forgot about this thread. May as well add my own "latest" page (actually the cover) while I check out some of the works here. Some of the comics I've followed have been from threads like this. [image] Read my very short comic "Lil' Red".

Thanks, @niah146 ! I actually have more of those one page comics that I need to get past the script stage, lol. Stay tuned!

Thanks for taking the time to read it, @kirschwassen! So first, let me explain that this was originally for a challenge on a reddit comic collab forum. The requirements called for the entry to be based on a public domain fairy tale and exactly 4 pages. There lies the challenge for a writer to create…

Hello everyone! I recently finished a collaborative short comic and uploaded it here to Tapas. I'd appreciate it if you would all read it and leave feedback. The comic is a grand total of 4 PAGES. Yep. 4 paginas. Das it. So, it's an easy read. I had a really good writer to work with so I think the…

Hey @blackmangaofficial I'm actually sending out emails for my chosen collaborators now. By all means though, you and anyone else can send me your short story for comic proposal to my email thischickdoesart@gmail.com . Payments for the pages in May are already started, so maybe I'll be able to ta…

Hey @WickedSuitProduction, I'll be replying back to you shortly. Thanks!

Hello Tapas! For those who would still like to collaborate with me, you may reach out via my email at thischickdoesart@gmail.com . I don't log into Tapas daily so it'll be easier reaching out to me by email instead. Here is a link to my new COMIC ART Portfolio for convenience: https://tcda-kuro.t…

Hey @caelsonata!! Thanks for the interest. I'm still going through proposals in my messages but I'll add your wordpress to my watch list and take a look over the weekend.

Hahaha! I read the strips and they're quite good! I like the humor. I'm super busy this weekend so I may reach out to you in the near future.

Just to answer another question I'm getting a lot in my messages: I'm open to most genres. I don't mind being challenged. Fantasy is, however, my go to. If it helps, I'm slightly squeamish and don't watch horror movies, lol.....I need to sleep at night, y'all....

Hey, Leon! Thanks for stopping in on this thread! I read through the first chapter of your proposed short story. While it isn't my cup of tea (I'll admit, I"m not a fan of excessive gore), I commend you for the style of writing (2nd person perspective choice...don't see that a lot), especially kno…

Hi LiSha (sorry I couldn't figure out how to get the accents above the letters...) I really like the concept of modernizing classics! I read the first few chapters of your story Violet of the Beast. I'm assuming the word count is around Tapas' general episode mark? That looks like it could be anywhe…

Hey! Thanks so far to everyone who has replied to this thread and those who have private messaged me!!! My client pays me $165 per page (drafts, edits, coloring, lettering, unnecessary fangirling, helpful feedback, the whole sha-bang). At one page a month that's probably like paying for another fan…

Hello, Tapas friends! Recently I finished another comic commission for a dear friend and client and realized that in one year she had commissioned over 10 comic pages! In my opinion, 10 pages is a decent number for a complete short story/one shot. At one month a page minimum she'd have a guaranteed,…

Time to leave for real this time. [image]

These two better take that exit now. [image]

Hello fellow artist and authors! So I came across some info regarding a collaborative anthology over on a subreddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/ComicBookCollabs/comments/61ahi1/announcing_ever_afterward_a_community_folklore/ While I haven't been on Tapas for very long, I do feel a good sense of co…

Some of these may not be from my own personal experience - Random gray hairs (coloring hair) - Can't eat certain foods anymore or in abundance - Less impulsive (spending, making descisions in general) - not understanding current popular culture or entertainment - using older references that certai…

Alice X is back after the week break! I want to say a big 'thank you' to my supporters so far. smiley The Garden is getting curiouser and curiouser... [image]

I thought of the concept for Alice X way back in 2014 I believe, lol! It was such a random idea now that I think about it. In the 2 years until I actually started to produce the pages there was a lot of procrastination. The reason for that came down to writing the actual script. I find it easy to cr…

Your handwritten lettering, in my opinion, looks best with your illustrations. It looks more organic versus the font you used in your first linked example. Even in the way your placed the text, it just looks like a better fit (though I would recommend you avoid writing on a slant). For some, doing…

If there is a set schedule that the author is adhering to then 'yes' I will wait patiently for each update of an enjoyable comic. However, I'm a more committed reader if given MORE pages of GOOD STORYTELLING and OKish art quality over fewer updates of a good story with print-worthy art.

Art wise, coloring is the most difficult part for me...which is why I don't do it, lol. Actually, I do color my comic but it's only flat coloring with some shadows thrown in and a monochrome tint laid on top to make myself feel less bad at the end result. Granted it does work out okay for my comic. …

From my newbie experience with my comic Alice X, I saw a significant boost in subscribers and views when I got on the the trending page last month/late Feb. This seemed to be achieved after I had hit 1k-1.5k views. While it looks like I've plateaued, I haven't lost a lot of subs either. I think at…

Yeah...cliffhanger until the 20th....not sorry (lol). A re-read form the beginning should help pass the time. XD [image]

These are really good, everyone! haha!

I may be in the minority here, but I LOVE the challenge of working within a short allotment of pages. One of the things I have to be mindful of in longer works is to be aware of unnecessary elements (dialogue, narrative, plot). It may sound good but I have to ask myself if it is necessary to moving …
